11.014

i can't get into my photobucket to post the picture of my timeslip. but yesterday, on the 365th day of ownership, i took the niner to the track.
my dial in was 11.00,
r/t .183
60- 1.744
330-4.59
660- 7.000
mid mph- 100.90
990 9.086
1320- 11.014 @119.18.

I had lots of fun, it was my first time at the strip on a real bike. i made it to the semis along with my buddy in his bone-stock SAAB 9-3. i red lit by .009 then. doh! did i mention it was fun? i also got in like 15 passes. Not bad for $40 and having 27 vehicles in my class! when i can unscrew the bucket of photos. time to negotiate with the wife. doh.

so far, i have a crappy stubby muffler, PC3 with a seat of the pants map, 15/45 gears, i tied the front down and made an adjustable strut for the back. which, naturally requires a much shorter stand, so i made one of those, too. it even works with the kickstand switch. if i race again, i'll put my 17 sprocket back on so i can stretch out 5th gear instead of having to shift 30 feet from the end. i'll also be able to get after it harder out of the hole, i hope. i should also think about maybe leaving the lights in the same calendar year as the light turns green. next time. soon.
I have no doubts that if i get out of the hole in a timely fasion, hit my shift points, and quit launching like a little girl on a big wheel, i'd be around 10.6. i have another slip for 11.15 where my reaction was .482. WTH? i guess i got scared and hammered it on the launch the way i should.

i should build myself a tree and a track about 150 feet long. buy lots of used tires and practice launches! it is a lot of fun learning to do exactly the opposite of what i normally do and still go redonkulously fast. it's not fun, its redonkulous. and i like it.

Scrat are you racing in Sabin at Interstate Dragways? I used to run my Roadrunner out there, and some of the 1/8th mile airstrip drags across the state. Elevation there is around 900-1000ft above sea level if I remember correctly.

yeah, we are sitting at just over 1000 feet. Sabin it is! my neighbor goes out there all the time, so i had to go out to put a stompin on his r6. but he's geared HUGE and stretched like 8 inches. and he's practiced. i'm close...

Those are good times!
I went to run my bike at the drag strip but they wouldn't let me because I had a temporary seat hooked up with bungee cords. I'll be lucky if I run a high 12 LOL. Are you launching hard? I am such a dweeb when it comes to launching. I been watching too many vids of people flipping over, so I got myself all paranoid. When I was practicing launching I was slipping the clutch out even though I didn't even have my revs up. I was only launching at about 4000 rpms, too chicken to try any higher. Any pointers??

Dood,
When you come back from Norway we need to hit up the track every weekend. Wait a minute... you said no building codes in Walcott??? We could probably just buy a couple 1/4 mile stretches there fro cheap... hmmm...

winter sucks.

Opinions are like assholes... and you're an opinion.

myz, i gaurantee you can launch harder than myself. i'm a unicyclist, so i struggle greatly with the concept of trying to not unicycle. the comparison i have been making is 'i launch like a 2nd grade girl on a Big Wheel". you would likely destroy me.
oz, game on, every weekend. it only takes me an hour to be ready, and i can do it at the track if you wanna ride out. yes, we should also build our own quarter, but not until i complete the 37 stall man-cave.
anybody want a picture of my parts i made in case you want to do your own?
