I hate end of the season deals

Something always comes up and it's hard to pass it on.

Here is my new winter project: 06 DRZ400SM with 3.6k miles on the clock, full Yoshi rs2 exhaust, professionally jetted Keihin 39mm FCR MX carb and some other good stuff.

I did ride bone stock DRZ once and this thing is just like some different bike. It's amazing how the exhaust and better carb can transform this thumper.
Need to get my plates next week and take her for a good ride to see what she is all about

That thing should be great fun. Looks like the chain needs some lube. Give us a report as soon as you get a ride on it.

even more so.... the stock drz400 motor is stupid bullet proof. Tiz what MMI uses to teach dyno tuning to the students... and that is NOT easy on a bike day in and day out.

Im thinkin i MIGHT get one... always wanted one cus god, they are so friggin fun to ride in the twisties!

Nice find. I've been scanning craigslist in the area for a used DRZ400SM for the last couple of months too. Let me know what the ride is like compared to the 919.

you really cant compare them

the DRZ is gonna be much better in the stupid tight twisties. if ur doing freeway riding, the 919 will be much better. if your doing highish speed not as twisty riding, the 919 will be better.... the 919 is much more of a well rounded bike... it can do it all.

but the drz is just a bucket o fun to play around town, and in the local twisites.... the light flickable nature of the things make them crazy fun! you ride them like a light switch.... throttle on, throttle off, you dont really have to worry about spinning the rear in a corner due to too much throttle.

its just sad.... the selling price for a drz400 of the same year as a 919... is higher than the 919

I'm missing something.....what's to hate?

I see a couple guys on these blasting the canyons locally when I'm out and about. It looks like more fun than anyone can stand at any one time, and they sound awesome!!!!!

I just loved the bike when I first saw it. Still do!!!!

Nice purchase.

That's the kind of bike I like buy; one that the PO already did all the expensive mods already. You have the carb, exhaust, brake lines, sliders aleady there. What a deal.

What's the little canister with all the hoses going into it on the left side of the bike, charcoal canister?

Post another pic when you get all the stickers off.

probably some type of catch can... most tracks wont let you run the carb lines, coolant overflow like normal.

a little update, I'm almost done.
new headlight/fender, FCR39MX rejetted carb, radial FTE Beringer brake master and caliper with 320mm Brembo rotor, new shock with 5.7kg/mm spring and some other stuff. Kick start install is in progress.

Over the winter took everything apart, swing arm, steering stem etc, regreased every bearing. OEM don't put much grease in these things but luckily with only 3k miles on her, there still was some grease left and all bearings were still fine.

chain was 10 links too long. love this tool

PO installed FCR39MX carb but it was jetted too rich. Here is the video of her before the rejetting: gargling on gas without enough air after a quick throttle release - first sign of the rich mixture. Click the image to see this vid.

im hoping you took the time to wire the AP while you had the carb out... that will be the NUMBER 1 best mod you could ever do for throttle response.

believe me i know, you might think you have good throttle response.... but once you wire that AP up ull go... HOLLY BUCKETS this is nutz... my crf250x with its FRC39MX carb on it i can not no matter how fast i wack the throttle, make it bog... that even means idiling in first gear rolling and wacking the throttle.

yea, I wired it. OP just never rejetted FCR and put it the way it came from the store? It was too rich, needle was at clip 4 with 100 pilot air jet and 42 pilot jet. I went with no pilot air and 45 pilot jet with needle at clip 3.

BTW, that vid was taken 2 days after I got the bike, before I rejetted the carb

these are Sudco keihin, not stock keihin as on drz400 or KTMs. everything seems to work smooth, I checked it a bunch of times while it's off the bike.
