Seriously though Cannandale tried the backwards intake thing. I like it in theory, makes sense, can't wait to see if they can make it work long term.
True, but the Cannondale project had next to no R&D budget and was being rushed to market by the ego of Joe Montgomery.
Steve butler, Doug Dubach and a few other guys I know have been involved with this project from the beggining and according to what they have told me, it's the real deal.
Maaaaan, that pipe is going to get hot. It's ti, but that thing will be glowing red in no time, I'm sure. If I let my 07 WR450 idle for about a minute at night, it'd be red. And Yes it was jetted corectly.
My WR450 was a beast. Imagine what a YZ going to do....

Actually Sniper, the pipe is stainless steel but I'm sure someone will make a Ti system for it. The bike tips the scales at 245 lbs. That's kinda fat, but at least it's centralized fat!
Glowing head pipes are completely normal on 4-stroke off-roaders. Even my little CRF150F's head pipe glows...kinda scary when you see it all cherry red!
Sounds like a lot of Yamaha marketing hype. I'd wait to see how it does in the real world. FWIW, the YZ400f was radical and revolutionary. Not sure about this one.
