if anyone thinks about getting a 750 shadow i dont care what model it is... immediately slap yourself. now listen to me.

the 600 shadow compared to the newer 750 shadows will outrun the 750. why? generally the same horsepower and torque, but less weight. the 750s have been dumbed down too much by honda. i own a 600 shadow aka VLX. great bike. 4 speed, can rev up to 9k rpms, and runs like a raped ape when opened up. i've had a number of cages challenge me on the vlx, no problems. same for the harley 1200 sportsters. no problem.

the pre 99 and post 99 are different with the pre 99 having dual carb, post 99 is single carb. also over the years they've been dumbed down by honda just like everything else. pre95 has pretty good snap and response. best thing is, they handle great for a cruiser. they can be a little awkward at low speed due to their rake as well.

Oh yeah. Insurance for my cruiser is $720 a year less than what my 919 costs to insure.

$720 cheaper? My 919 insurance is only about $300/yr with Progressive.

Anyone on here, and I'm talking to dealership types, think that the dealer will let me take the 1800 for like a demo weekend. I've never owned or ridden a big bore v-twin for any length of time. I think the decider would be if i could have one for a few days and test it out. Any ideas?

If any dealer will let you demo one, it would be Storm Lake Honda. Talk to Larry, super guy and will make you a deal.

Then sell me your 919.

Paul

I don't think I can. I love my 919. It's a damn good motorcycle. It does everything, so so well. I think I'd kick myself if I bought a cruiser and sold out to the poser crowd... No thanks.

But, Paul....
