The v rod is a great bike but the Harley purists are all about air cooled pushrod engines. The v-rod being the exception. That generation is slowly dying off or getting to old to ride so sooner or later the Harley buying demographic will accept liquid cooled twin overheat cam motors.
I'm not a purist. I embrace new tech, especially tech that makes me go faster and Harley's v-twin pushrod tech just doesn't get ya there.
But I do like the torque associated with them. It's a trade off.
I'm to old to go that fast on a V-Rod, my stage 3 gets my blood pressure high enough. I've got to stand up and calm down after a hard throttle up now. I could never use all the V-Rod has to offer and I'd probably have a heart attach trying.

Yes, but most of us actually go more than 1mph on our motorcycles.
Again, you're digging up old dead threads from years back.
Hehehe.
You sportbike guys don't see the world the way us Harley guys do. All the speed and wheelies and 10000 rpm screaming is a great time and fun and all but riding a slow assed lumbering Harley isn't about arriving at any destination. The destination is the excuse to ride.
I'm an old man,my dyna is coming back to me with 120 hp/130tq. Now that's more than enough for me to cruise COMFORTABLY at 120 mph but why would I want to.
I want to smell the fresh prairie air,to admire the vast open spaces, the sound of my pipes echoing off the mountains.
Ride what you want as fast as you want guys. I will take my slow Harley coast to coast. And enjoy the ride.
I got passed by a 3 or 4 Harley riders this weekend
If I had not been pulling my race trailer up a 3 mile stretch of 8% grade I think my F150 might have taken them...

All jokes aside, welcome to the forum man. It can be hard to be a Harley rider on this forum sometimes I've noticed, but don't mind them. I think most of us 'sport bike guys' (even though I think most sport riders would laugh at a 919 owner being called that) see the world of riding the same way, we just like the style and performance of sportier rides. As long as you're not a dick, I don't care what you ride.
As a new rider, I'm glad we got some more old timers to gain knowledge from, no matter if they ride a fat boy or CBR. Who knows, when I get old , and my Road King Electra Glide won't start I'll need some answers.
