My dad just bought an 09' fjr1300a for around 14k, about 3 weeks ago now. He loves it so far, even though he only has a few hundred miles on it. Took it for a ride the weekend he got it and and it is a great bike. The drive shaft makes it very very smooth. Funniest thing was getting back on the 919 right after riding it. I felt like I was getting onto a dirt bike.
Surfed ebay yesterday and saw an 05 silver for 11000 with 0 miles on it. So they say. The pictures did not confirm and one pic looked like it was in front of someones home and the rest look like they were taken at a dealership.

There are several FJR's listed on Craigslist around the midwest, try searching on "Crazedlist.org", lets you search several cities at once. Only works using Firefox as your browser though, but a great way to search the whole country, as well as waste several hours of your time.
Blazed up to Sportland 2 today. They've got an 08 zx-14 connie for 11800. It's a demo with less than 500 and some really small damage on the right side.
I'd do it but the timing isn't right. ( Is it ever?)

I'll make you a good deal on a beautiful 1200 mile '07 black cherry FJR, perfect condition.
I figured it out this morning on my way to work, it's an awesome bike but since Gin rides too she doesn't want to just sit on the back for hundreds of miles, she wants to be on her own bike next to me. Like driving a 750iL by yourself, too much vehicle for one person, not sure it fits our needs.
Wonder what trade in value would be towards a new F800GS?
Good luck with that. Scott. I went through the same thing with my wife a few years ago. She wanted to be a rider and not the passenger. I had an ST1300 at the time. When she got her motorcycle endorsement, I sold it and bought the 919 since the ST13 seemed like overkill. Robin got her bike and rode it for a while. And then the challenge of passing the test and the novelty of riding wore off and she decided she liked the comfort and relaxation of being a passenger again. So, the 919 goes away and the Bandit enters the picture.
So, my advice is to make sure enough soul searching and commitment determination happens before dumping the FJR, taking a financial hit, and then be faced with the prospect of reverting bikes again. Good luck!!

Well I'm positive that Ginger won't give up riding, she's the reason I got back into bikes in the first place. I wouldn't have to sell the FJR, that money is already spent and not missed, but it is a big expensive bike to just have sit in the garage. I also won't lose money on this one, bought it cheap enough that I can at least break even if not make a little. Haven't modded it out like the 919, that's the bike I can never sell.
Probably what makes the most sense if we want to get into adventure bikes is to sell it and buy two used bikes without having to dip into savings. Not that making sense is a guiding principle for me when it comes to motorcycles.
It's this close to being for sale, you should take a trip south and come check it out. The FJR is great bike, smooth and fast, handles amazingly well for a big bike, and perfectly capable of cruising at 100+ mph all day long. I like it the best of the big touring bikes I've ridden, sportier than the ST1300, as it's been described before, the FJR is a SPORT-tourer. This bike is perfect, beautiful black cherry color really shines in the sunlight, had its 600 mile service done, only has about 1200 miles on it now.
Like Ken said I'll probably regret it someday, but right now I think we'll get more enjoyment out of a couple of dual sports and while I'd like to keep the FJR it makes more sense in these erratic times to use the money I've invested in it to purchase the adventure bikes.
Gawd. Between you offering me my bike of choice and Nemo prepping for an Epic, I see just how far I am from my dreams. I'm hurtin'. In soooo many ways.
Thanks for the offer 'Beau. I really appreciate it and she's a totally bitchin', er, gorgeous bike. The timing's all wrong though. When it comes time, I hope you find a good home for that sexy courser.
That's a great shot - gorgeous bike. Gonna be sad to watch that one ride off in to the sunset...
What do you expect to get for it on a trade-in versus selling privately?
I'd sell it privately, according to NADA low retail is $10,535, high $13,697. Don't think I'd have much trouble getting my money back out of it since it's still in like new condition and I'm in it right.
I was sad to see my old Toyota 4x4 drive away, don't know about the FJR, haven't developed a strong sentimental attachment to it yet. I guess I just enjoy buying and selling cars, trucks and bikes, like to try lots of different models and am always looking for the next one that catches my eye.
Run it by Westfield Yamaha/Suzuki and see it they will consign it for you. They are selling bikes like hotcakes right now...I'm sure yours would fly out the door. It's also a great accessory shop, one of the nicest Motorcycle Dealerships I have been to in a long time, it would be worth the trip just to check out the inventory. If you ride up via Fishers, let me know and I'll tag along with you...there's always something I need there! Jim
I sat on the GS1200 at a demo ride on its' kickstand at mid-Ohio. My vertical impairment made it tough to get it off the stand. I rode the GS650 - rides nice... I am waiting to get a look at the GS800. I like the dual sport looks of these bikes.
The consignment shop for the Yamaha is a good idea. Saves someone showing up "knowing how to ride" and you having to deal with the aftermath.
