My 1100 spirit has a 170, it doesn't look like there is much more room between the swingarm / driveshaft. Also I do not believe the stock wheel on my bike would handle a larger tire.

Bigger tire on same rim accomplishes nada.

You get to buy a more expensive tire to get no benefit except knowing you have a bigger tire (is that really a benefit?)

But to answer your question... I do not know what the maximum size is that will 'fit' in your swingarm.

Found that some are using metzlers up to 200 on their 750s also some are using 205 car tires? Don't believe I'll ever try that but they claim it handles fine (somehow doubt that). My shadow is almost in need of a rear tire now and I'll stick with the stock size. Like hondaf4iguy said "no benefit except knowing you have a bigger tire (is that really a benefit?)"

Check your rim size. Larger tires on small rims are a no-no.

I have a 170 on a 15" rim. I've seen re laced 1800 VTX rims on a 750, and you can fit up to a 180/200. Check out chromewhore.com they have some wicked lookin SS750's.
maybe get some ideas.
