Scott

If you put a battery tender on that for a while you might be able to salvage the current battery. I was getting ready to replace my battery on the 9er but the battery tender brought it back to life.

It'll sell, not too worried. More concerned about the R1200C, very narrow market for that bike. So far I've received a call from California with a low ball offer and some guy in AZ has offered to trade me 2.5 acres of land in Golden Valley.

Looked up Golden Valley, town of like 4000 in the Mojave, average income $13K. Don't think 2.5 acres in a poor desert town is quite what I'm looking for!

Yeah, not the most convenient or pretty part of the state, to be sure. Bleh.

Enjoyed the fruits of my labor today, we took the silver FJR and the yellow Hornet for a 150 mile afternoon ride. Gorgeous day in Indiana, mid 70's and cloudless sky, couldn't have asked for better riding weather. The big sport tourer and little sport naked made a cool pair winding through the curvy blacktop roads south of the city, isn't it great when a 150 miles can take 4 hours on a motorcycle and you don't even feel like you were wasting time?

Ordered Throttlemeister cruise control bar ends today, went with the heavy duty silver non-polished version. Old school company, no online ordering, either have to call or fax your order. Nice guys and located in Milwaukee, might have my order by the weekend.

Seriously considering the Dale Walker Holeshot complete exhaust system, after some seat time in 90 degree weather I'm convinced the heat from the catalytic convertors needs to go away! Supposedly the cats are the source of most of the heat problem on the 1st Gen FJR's, I stuck my hand under them after I got home and they were smokin' hot. It's too quiet also, a giant whirring sewing machine, would be more enjoyable if you could hear that big motor revving up through the gears. Good sized chunk o' cash, but I've read nothing but good reviews of Walker's products. Gotta install a PCIII to get max performance with the header system, so that drives the price up even more. I did just sell the '07 though....

I want an FJR, absolutely love them! There was a local to me in SC when I was down there that would just wear his out at the Dragon, he made the cover of KILLBOY quite a few times too. Great travel bike! Hell, I wouldn't mind an old FJ1200 either.

Got the Throttlemeisters installed last night, look great and can't wait to get on the highway later this afternoon to check out their operation!

Put in 120 miles this afternoon, my usual loop through Bloomington and back. Throttlemeister works well, takes a bit of getting used to but does what it's supposed to do. Not perfect on hills and you don't want to use it in traffic or curves, but as far as holding a steady speed on long flat straight highway it works great. Definitely helps give my throttle hand a rest, even makes it easier to adjust the right mirror. By the end of the ride I'd pretty much figured out how to roll it on and off easily, I think I'll really appreciate it on a long trip.

Your really confusing me, who buys a older version of a bike and sells the much nicer one?

I had a 05 fjr and absolutely hated it, I must of had one of the bad ones, the heat was unbearable, I even had a few of my freinds take it on trips and they all agreed how bad it was, I tried the cromit heat fix and lined under the gas tank with heat wrap and it still dident work.

Another thing bad about the bike was how jumpy the throttle was... It also had noisy valves at 7,000 mi

Good luck with yours, I hear some poeple have 0 problems with there gen1's

Read through this thread and you'll understand my reasoning. Bought '04 cheap, sold '07 for a small profit after riding for a year and banked over five grand in the process. I actually like the way the 1st gen rides better than the 2nd gen, has more soul. It's faster, lighter and even though the black cherry was beautiful, the silver fits my tastes better. Having much less invested in it I'm more willing to spend some money on mods, header and slipons, PCIII, etc. A win/win no matter how I look at it!

Probably doesn't heat up much getting the paper anyways

I like 'em both.
