Well I've always wanted one of these and stumbled across it in a for sale ad.
1988 NT650 with 12k miles. Never crashed and un-molested. Has not seen the road in 5 years and I dont know if it runs yet be we will soon find out.
Probably paid way too much for it but I've got the winter project I've been looking for!
You'll love it, picked one up last year an 89 with 4300 miles on it
mines red. From what I gather the blue ones are not that common.
Here's a Hawk site if your not familiar with it. Honda Hawk GT Forum - Powered by Honda Hawk GT / Bros riders
Congrats on the awesome find. I seriously conisdered buying one that became available here recently. Looking forward to the progress.

Excellent! When I saw your photos I went out to the garage, looked at my blue '88 Hawk, and wished it looked anywhere near as good as that one. Of course, mine has 143,791 miles on it.
A word of advice: unless you intend to keep it for yourself try to stay as close to stock as you can. Especially the blue which is the most desirable of the model run. I have heard of a blue '88 Hawk in mint condition going at auction for more than twice the original purchase price, but modified ones are a dime a dozen ... literally fetching 20% of the average price for stock.
Congratulations, and have fun restoring / modding / whatever.
Infinitely adjustable, made of the finest materials available, and completely sourced from local suppliers -- gotta support the local economy! Order today and know handlebar Nirvana.
Well I'm finishing up the carbs tonight..Hopefully.. Did I say in another post how I liked a carburated bike? Well after going through these, I'll take the no muss, no fuss injected stuff....thank you. After disassembling the bike, I really cant believe how well this thing has held up to its long term storage. Everything on the bike has cleaned up really well, the exhaust cleand up so well it looks new and the paint looks better than some newer bikes I've come across. I'm really excited to hear this thing..We'll see,er, hear soon.
congrats! I gotta get up there for sure next year and see your collection.

I owned a gray one many years ago. It maybe the best around town bike EVER! Light, comfortable, torquey, & geared perfect. Man did that thing have some roll on.
But not very good for a 6ft, 215lb guy on the highway.
DO NOT changed the exhaust, you will not be able hear the wonderful intake honk.
Weren't you the guy selling a purple 900RR because of too many bikes in the garage?
Yep...That was me. I've got a sickness. I just had to have this one.(The Hawk) The 900 was a friend of mines bike and pretty much asked me to buy it from him. I himmed and hawed ... Maybe for a minute or two and said ok.. Besides, the Hawk doesnt take up as much room.:001_smile:
Well the Hawk runs! I'm fairly impressed with myself. Its smooth as silk, engine is quiet with no ticks or rattles. It didnt even puff any smoke after its 5 or so year time off for good..or bad behavior. Ran it in the garage long enough to find out if the temp guage worked and if the fan kicked on. Both pass. I'm pretty stoked now knowing that it it will move under its own power. Four days in the garage and another old deserving bike brought back from the dead. Just too cool!
Fork springs, seals, wipers and bushings should be here in a day...No word on brake pads or the tapered steering stem bearings yet...Love it when the dont e-mail a tracking #..... I need a race take off rear spring now. I've read a 900rr spring is doable with a re-vlave and a spring 300 ish sounds a little better than 800 - 900 ish for a Penske.
I would love to see the bike. Sounds like you're making good progress. I will actually be in Wausau for the weekend, but humoring my wife and doing a curling turney so no time for play

I wish honda would have used a different wheel design.
Not a big fan of all the red ones. All in all they were very
nice bikes. Mine sounded great with the Muzzy s/o.
Let me warn you – you might want to sell that thing before
you find out that CR500 motors fit in the frame.
Please, sell it to me before you bastardize it with a CR500 engine. Don't get me wrong I can see the fun in it, but hawk's in good condition are getting harder and harder to find.

Naw..All of my 500 engines are content where they are now in their aluminum framed CR250 chassis. The steel 500 will stay as it is for the duration..It was the first one I rode with my boy with...Visualize a 3 yr old on a p'dub with
outrigger training wheels buzzing along next to a big bore 500...Priceless.

welll yes you can fit a cr500 motor into just about anything with some fab... but you make it seem as if its bolt up?
Well the front end is back on and the rear cowl re-installed. I need to get Rellics stock 9ner bar ends on and it'll be done aside from a little more detailed cleaning. Had a small crack in the rear cowl near a grommet so I figured I'd nip it in the bud before it turned into two pieces instead of one. I almost forgot what it looked like being apart as long as it has been. This blue sure does look nice. It would be a great color on a 9ner. If the weather is half way decent tomorrow, I'll get a few shots of it out in the light. I really cant believe how nice this bike turned out. Absolutely nothing is missing off this bike,,a mint owners manual and factory tool kit under the seat, all the reflectors are on it, all Honda mounting hardware and every warning sticker. Definately had a spend a little time bringing it back to life but all in all, this was a pretty lucky find.......

They dissin' on ya bud?
Add another one to the ranks. We want pics. It's not that cold yet.
Yea...Everybodys always giving me some kind a grief!
Weather isnt too cold yet but the constant drizzling-freezing rain is a real pia for outside stuff.
That is one SWEEET little bike.... i have a new project bike in my head now, along with the CB750, a hawk GT! .... the idea of a Vtwin honda naked is just so intriguing .
BTW anyone else think those valve covers look like the ones on a crf450 haha.
