81 550/ 650 hybrid getting finished up

cb 500

550 finished last year y
Sometimes , on a Saturday, I'll take a few out just to run them for a bit and give them some sunshine. I can't do it often enough. Townspeople get nervous when they don't know where all those bikers are . I think that's half the fun.

The camobike is done now (old picture)

and work has started on the matching sidecar (last week)

It now has a camo shoei box on the rear rack and a windshield . Camo seat covers are next and i think that I should get some fresh frame mounts and hook them together.

A New OLD Addition to the stable

My 1967 CB160, in all its 16.5HP glory!

Probably closer to 10 HP after 50 years of wear and tear.

I started out on the Nighthawk 700S. Still have it, but it has an oil leak in the head and the carbs have been giving me fits, so I rid the 919 instead. Got tired of working on it so much, the engine was a mix of a parting out bike and a fixer. Got a few good years out of her and she was dam fun to ride.

My first real bike was a Honda CB550sc Nighthawk. I paid $200 for it in non-running condition. The carbs were never 100% right, but it ran great up to 65 mph. I loved that bike, but I out-grew it and sold it. I would love to have one of those 700S's in my garage though. What a great looking motorcycle.

Bit of trivia, the CB700SC only existed because of Harley-Davidson.

I remember that story. Reminds me of Neitzsche - what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger.

Honda responded with a KickAss 700 because HD couldn't keep up and needed help from the Gov. So much for free markets.

Should make the 700 a bit of a collector item.

And EU and Canada got the 750cc version. I don't think we won on that one.
