Scored a 1978 CB 750

Got a friend who is selling off a couple of bikes, he has a 1978 CB750, a 1986 GSXR750 and a Triumph triple.

I sealed a deal on the CB750, pictures to follow.
I know he wants 1000 bucks for the GSXR and I do not know about the triple.

Just wanted to share my good fortune!

The guy serves in the military and his wife is on a remote and he has the kids.

So we are coordinating a get together for the pick up.

Congrats! I had a '78 CB750F Surersport, I regret selling that bike almost every day.

I have not seen the bike yet, I am buying unseen, but it is a friend, and he described to me the bike so I feel comfortable, besides the price is right!

I used to own a 1981 CB750F, my first BIG bike over 500 cc's way back in the late 80's also! This one is supposed to have the old windjammer fairing and all on it, I will just have to wait till next weekend and seee it. My inlaws are in town from the Netherlands and depart Tuesday, then I can get with my friend on the bike.

Like waiting for Christmas!!!!!!!!

Well Saturday came early.

My friend has to work Saturday, so he was off today and I was able to go get the bike.

It is a 1978 Honda CB750Four, has brand new not stock exhaust, it is now 2into1 on each side, and it came with a Windjammer front fairing with a brand new vetter windshield, the 70's style matching quick detach saddlebags, and top rear case. The seat is aftermarket 70's diamond stitched comfy seat, a Haynes and Clymer manuals, and he took it apart and painted the frame and reassembled the bike, got it running, but not right. Soooo it has been sitting for the last year and the gas smells like kerosene so I am in for a complete fuel system cleaning, at a minimum to get running.

I just got home, so pictures to follow tomorrow, the fairing is not installed, and the rear topcase is not installed, but I will post pictures of all the goodies.

OK, Here are the pictures.

I just sat the rear case on there, and the front windjammer is proped on the front tire. I also have the lowers that bolt to the front windjammer.

The rear saddle bags just pop off with a key kinda like my Givi bags on my 9er.

My plan is to get the bike going, and then have all the luggage installed so it looks like a good ol 70's cruiser since I have the pieces.

That, my friend, is a sweet ride. The SOHC's are great rides, and that is a fine example. Gunna add some color or just keep it as is?

I am no painter, but at least I know one. I plan to get everything in working order, then go back with Stock as can be colors that everything will match.

Damng those bags make me feel like I am in a shaggy carpeted paneled wall stucco ceiling room............

Ahhhhhhh No.
I used to ride with a club, NOT 1% but in order to survive in the M/C World you have to interact with the 1%er's.

I was National Prez at one time, so of course had to do the politics with all clubs, but one thing the club I was in was about is NEUTRAL. no affiliation to anyone.

I have since turned in my patch, but remain Close Friends to many of brothers in the club, if it takes a patch to make a good friend or brother, then I do not need them, I just did not want to club commitments anymore.

So instead of a simple no, there you have it!

Besides, now that I have the 9er, my wife says I am to "Preppy" for it anymore...

Well after taking the carbs and giving them a GOOD going through, whoever was the last person in them, used what looked like Green Loctite on the O-rings on the float bowls and that stuff was in every orrifice and on everything in the carbs.

I scrubbed them, and the Bike is ALIVE! I do not have a good battery, but with 11 volts in the old battery, one kick and off it went!

Still have to take the carbs back off, the accelerator pump is not working, so I may have to purchase those parts........

OK, the Accelerator pump is back working, the gasket to the pump did not have a hole to allow the gas to get to the squirters, so a drill bit and all is good. A little adjustments and it is a one kick wonder!

Now to fix the little stuff like bracket for rear brake light switch, small wiring, and registration.

Man the seat is Comfy though!

It was a mistake on my part, the Triumph turned out to be a Roadmaster or something, it is a cruiser that is the blacked out one anyways, I misfired on the triple, it was before I went to get the CB750, so I had not seen any of his bikes.

He said it is not for sale at this time, his wife ordered a Harley through Military sales, and they are awaitng for it to come in. When it comes in, he said it will be for sale.
