1975 Yamaha DT 400 project

Hi all,
This is my "new" bike that my dad and I are fixing up. Its almost as old as he is I got it from my great uncle who bought it new in 1975 and has been using it on his ranch in ND ever since. He finally retired it and got a new 4 wheeler. We cleaned up the 30 yrs of grease today and got it running. We have lots more work to do to it, but here it is.

Fix her up good, kid. I was 20 when that bike was new and I really wish I would have had one, but I got a Honda 750 instead.

That looks like a fun bike!
If you need any part resource info, let me know.
We have had to look hard for some parts for our DT-250.

Its a cool old bike, been in the family since it was, new. My uncle is a typical old Farmer, buys something new about every 30 yrs. He also does maintenance like an old farmer, runs good, but dang was it dirty!!! We scrubbed off a ton of grease, still needs some more, but it actually doesnt run to bad, needs a little tuning and lots of tlc.

So how's the bike coming along? I've always wanted to build a street tracker out of one of these.

Well we've received a few parts for it, new petcock, and carb boot should get her running better, and have gotten the old blinkers and a few misc part from my uncle. Also picked up a shop manual for it, that should help get us going. Need to get som fork seals yet, and still looking for a new speedometer, just found one on ebay we are watching. May get some time to work on it today. Chance has been starting it occassionally and riding it around the neighborhood.
