Windscreens for Touring

There are a bunch of windscreen threads and pictures to search thru for the 919 but, even for touring, there is clear favorite. What I do know is the Honda OEM one I have is poor. It's too short (only 10" tall above the headlight bezel) and too noisey. While it may divert a small amount of wind off my chest I am not satisfied. The only good thing I can say is that it doesn't look terrible and it is a good place to put my Hornet sticker.

I've lived with it long enough.

So I'm considering the F16 from National Cycle or the A755 Givi. The F16 says it is 13" tall & it looks like the A755 is ~ 14". From those who have them... are these numbers about right? Is the width of the A755 a benefit?

Has anyone made a similar move? Are there any solutions out there that are better choices?? Quick removal would be a plus since our 919 looks better clean - IMO.

Thanks,
Mark

I am running the F16 windshield. I really like it. You have to be careful about how you mount it though. The "ears" used to mount it to the headlight area are not reinforced with any metal, so they can be a bit brittle. The Givi set up is nice too. My friend is running that set up on his 9er. He has no complaints.

From what I've read here and elsewhere over the last couple of years, the F16 seems to be the most commonly used screen touring and/or the favorite for the 919.

Memphis Shades "Blade Runner" in gradient black works well for us. Four point handlebar/fork mounting with all stainless hardware. Top shelf IMO. Good upper body protection and you can also add Saeng stealth edging if you so desire for a little more protection.

Thanks for the comments...

But is the GIVI A755 actually taller than the F16?? And can you tell the difference in wind protection?

It's raining in Detroit! Again,
Mark

I've got a F-16 tall that I'd be willing to sell. Used for probably 500 miles, no scratches, just some bug guts.

I can measure it when I get home, if interested send a pm with an offer?

Plexifairing GT

I use the National Cycle Plexifairing GT on my 919. It is supposed to be specifically made for the 919 (don't know if this one is the same or different to the F16).

Givi A755

Hey Guys,
For those using the A755... Could someone tell me how tall the top of the screen is from the top of the chrome headlight bezel?
And general comments - Is it noticably more loud than running w/o a shield at all?? That is one of the draw backs of the Honda version. Has anyone moved from the Honda to an A755?

Thanks,
Mark

I have the GT as well

I have the PlexiFairing GT as well and it certainly works well on the highway but it is very loud. I've tried adjusting it but doesn't seem to make much difference. As stated before, earplugs will help. I also have the F16 sport shield but it doesn't really offer any protection. As a matter of fact, the wind flow seems to be better with no shield at all...perhaps attributable to the dual instruments that may redirect the airflow.

the f-16 shield comes in a tall version as well. thats what i run . takes all the wind off my chest. way more comfortable ride at higher speeds. i really didnt notice an increase in noise. very, very happy with the f-16 tall shield.

Does anyone have any experience or know of anyone who has tried the "MRA VARIO TOURING SCREEN" on the 919?. Looking for better protection and noise reduction.

Check out the National F-15, they tell you it won't fit the 919, I just got mine, it'll take a bit of messin with and I think I'm going to have to drill holes in the headlight brackets to make it work but it should give some good protection without hanging off of the bars..

BTW, google "honda 919 windshield" and you'll find pics of the F-15 on a 919 and see what I'm talking about possibly drilliing the brackets

Does anyone know if the F-16 is quick and easy to remove? Does looks clean once removed, no ugly brackets left?

I wouldn't call the F-16 easy to remove. The shield has hardware that's bolted onto the existing headlight assembly. It's removable, but if you're planning on removing it a lot I wouldn't recommend it.

For something a little larger than the F-16 that still looks good on the 9'er, check this thread: http://wristtwisters.com/naked-bikes...een-919-a.html
