Uranium Green

I just bought an 06 919... but have always liked the Green color best. Hypothetically speaking, could I purchase green NOS parts and swap them out? Are there any differences between year models with regard to the fuel tank/pump assembly that might cause a hiccup? Are California models different?

hello and welcome. they're all the same. only difference on the cali model is the evap container. you indeed can buy the green parts and swap everything over. very easy to do.

just make sure you dont bend or otherwise damage the long wire coming out of the fuel pump as that is your low fuel gauge.

Does that mean that Brewcrew02's is fastest since it's black splashed with red? Best of both worlds.

I think the Red came off of another bike he was trying to catch up to. It was going SO fast, the paint came off.

That's the only explanation I can think of...

Haha. That's probably the most likely, if not the only feasible, way the paint got on his bike.

If you check out the Tank and Tail thread I started, you'll find that the green parts are on backorder per some sources.

As for which color is fastest... perhaps red is faster as an absolute measure of speed - but how much good is that going to do you since it makes you appear on every cop's radar for 100 miles and you have to slow to a crawl when you even think there might be a cop?

Black is stealthy, doesn't get noticed - so as a practical matter, black is faster.

true except I got pulled over in my asphalt one last summer. Thought i looked just like the pavement, but apparently the state trooper saw me anyways. Had to fight just to get rid of the careless and deal with the 30 over ticket.

OMFG i like this guy already!!! WELCOME MAN you will fit right in!!!

As per your question, yes you could theoretically just swap the parts if you purchased the brand new ones in a different color... the 919 had VERY few changes..

02-03 had non adjustable forks / shock (it probably has preload but no rebound adjustment) and no clock in the guage cluster.

EDIT... this brings up an interesting point. completely off topic sorry OP. the difference between the CA ECU and rest of the country ecu... part numbers 38770-MCZ-771 / 38770-MCZ-671 respectively.... the wiring harness also has different part numbers for obviously the added evap solenoid... but i wonder if the map itself is different in the ecu?¿?¿?
04- had preload and rebound adjustment front and rear. and an added clock.

Then there is the california model with its slightly different wireing harness and probably ecu to trigger the evap can.... but really you dont have to worry about that. (also there were some 919's that came with a mid pipe that had no catalytic converter)

Thats about it.... all parts are completely interchangeable between years AFIK (i kno all plastics and tank will be for sure ONLY thing that might be different is the ecu simply due to evap system but thats becides the point).

And btw.... silver 919 w/ the aerodynamic drop dent in the THROTTLE side of the tank is the fastest... behind the rare illusive uranium green... man i wish i could have that color.

Wheelie-ing past the cop defeats your stealth features. Also if you fit non-stock or debaffled pipes. :P

wait.... is a zebra black with white stripes or white with black stripes? in other words, brewcrew's 919 is black with red splattered on. it is mainly black, the red splatters slows it down some.

Haha. I think you have to see how high the zebra jumps to tell the difference. It would be the worse spoof movie ever: "White Zebras with Black Stripes Can't Jump"

As for the red slowing it down, that would be my assumption as well. I was just trying to find a positive outlook on covering a beautiful black 919 with red. (Although it does look awesome admittedly. I dragged the closest 5 friends in the room over to my computer to make them admire it as well when I first saw the pictures of it.)

Haha. Don't worry googl3it. I've dragged some guys over to admire your beauty too. Although I swear between the header exchange and amount of Rizoma parts you've thrown on her, you've had to have spent more in after market parts then I bought my entire bike for. But Brew gets the most creative paint job award IMO.

All this bickering reminds me of KLR650 riders arguing about which color is faster... or pre-schoolers arging about how who's taller.

Has anyone actually been told that Unranium Green parts are unavailable?

Im not sure if the uranium green stuff is still available... you could always get color matched paint and repaint your current stuff.

But if i were to go that route id get something unique to the 919 color wise... id probably go with the orange found on triumphs street triple.
