Super Duke quirk

I'm a big fan of this bike and I feel it's only fair to tell the "bad" with the good.

Occationally my SD is hard to start. It occurs after tha bike has sat for 4 or more days. I don't think it gets enough fuel. A friend of mine, who used to own a Tuono, says to:

Turn on the key, let the fuel system pressurise. Turn the key off. Turn it back on, and let the system pressurise a 2nd time. Then hit the starter. Works for me! If you do that in the morning, you won't have to do the double pressure thing again that day.

Now your mistake there is saying it is a problem or issue.

What you are describing is what is commonly referred to by non Japanese bike owners as 'Character'!

Just a quirk of the bike - letting you know who is in charge!

I think the Super Duke is just beng bully because I haven't ridden it for a few days. Oh, it has character. It IS a character.

I've been playing with the jetting on my XC200W 2-stroke. I think I'm right on the button now. Man that thing rips.

Give those KTMs what they want, and you can't beat em.

Haven't experienced that issue, so far no issues at all actually other than the inherent "character" of which you speak

sounds like my 01 chevy 2500hd.... i gotta prime it twice before i start it 90% of the time... stupid bum check valve allows all pressure to be released if it sits for more than an hr or two in the fuel rails.

every vehicle has its quirks... the 919 if its super cold and i get on it kinda hard but in the lower rpms and quickly pull in the clutch and come to a stop will sometimes die simply because its not warmed up and isnt idiling at normal speed (tho i do have my idle set lower than spec)

Well, the only PROBLEM I see is that you let your bike sit for 4 days without being ridden.

Head east Rose, I'll let you ride the Super Duke.

Bum check valve? Huh, I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks!

eh theres a coupla different theories on the 01-03ish hard starting chevy truck issues... its either a bum check valve somewhere in the fuel pump that allows the fuel to drain back... or the pickup line from the bottom of the tank has a small hole in it allowing that foot or so section to get air in it when it sits for a coupla hrs... on the first prime its not nuff to get any pressure in the system.

i have had the dealer tell me its a bad fuel pump and its producing too low of pressure then i go... how the hell can i run the motor to the revlimiter (6k rpms on my 6.0L v8) in first and second (which gets me to 85mph) and have no issues with fueling. i do kno that replacing the fuel pump assembly fixes the issue... as it fixed the same issue on my buddies truck.

its such a big issue and another failure on chevy's part they have at least one TSB on it.
