I would tend to agree with that statement.

For me, there is no doubt that the many sessions on the 919 made the 750 much easier to transition to, never having ridden such beasts before.
I instantly realized how much slower the mental pace is when on a bike like a 919. So not only is the bike easy to learn on, I think the slower mental pace it provides, allows for less stressful learning and fewer mistakes.

I'm not saying the 919 is a better track bike I'm merely saying a Novice rider could do a lot more with it in a trackday scenario than could typically be done on a supersport bike.
There is absolutely no way in hell I could run the same lap times on the 919 as I can the 1000RR or the GSXR K5 etc...

have you tried a 250? Much better start on the track than 600 or 919 IMO.
Novice could do a lot more to develop his skills on this baby than 919
check her out. She is sexy One can't be 200lbs+ to track it though, lol

Yes, but the 919 can go cross country with saddle bags, strafe the canyons on the weekends, carry a passenger at will, do wheelies just by twisting the throttle and still be a trackday bike that I guarantee will mop any track out there with that 250's ass

yea, all you need to do is add Ohlins for about $1k. You should take off remote preload adj. and move them for $500.

I actually came from an NC24 (vfr 400) before the 919, great lil' bike. Was hard yo find spares for it here though. That was 10 years ago...we didnt have a track nearby then. Pity.

Where are you at now re the new front springs and getting the Ohlins mounted?
I envy you for how long your track season is as compared to use here in The Great White North.
I took the wheels sets off last night, and removed the batteries, before the temperature started dropping.
It's -16 C now and is supposed to get down to -20 C.
Hopefully next winter I can have the garage insulated and heated, so I can do work on the bikes all year round.
