Guess I have an over inflated sense of it's value.. but still.. it's a perfectly good and solid bike.. even with the tranny issue which unless you smack down on it hard when it's still warming up is nonexistent. I'll fix that and keep her.
This one of the issues I am struggling with looking at upgrading. Its a good solid bike that will run many miles still, has nice, classic lines, it just seems that it is spiralling into the super cheap 2nd hand market faster than cops on their way to happy hour at Dunkin Donut's.

Starting to be worth more as a paid for working motorcycle than as a for sale item to just get couple bucks cash. value is found in the use not the blue book in this case I think? I don't know.. we'll see what I can get for her come spring.... but like said, she will be staying if I can only get chump change. I don't need the money to get a new one... and I got plenty of room for a 3rd bike.

why are you afraid to say such things.... winter is awesome, i get to go ski in the morning looking out at the ocean 40mi away, then go ride in the afternoon right by the beach in 70*F weather

i love so cal!

as per the OP. if you like what you see and the price is right. go for it... i mean really if its 500 more than a typical 919 of that year and milage, but looks good and sound... why fret a bunch, yes i know 500 is 500... but if you have the excess money to buy a motorcycle... then 500 shouldnt be a problem.

That being said, i really think price depends on the area and availability of the bike in the area. I got my 2004 919 with 3600mi for $4200 last year... and it was the cheapest one worth looking at within 250mi. and honestly i wished at the time, looking at a larger search area (across the nation), that i got the bike for cheaper.... but since i have put ~6k miles on it i havnt thought about the price once. its paid for in full... now its just a fun toy to get my hooligan on!
