Yeah that bike is way cool in so many ways I don't even wanna say this but.... I'd seriously be concerned about dumping raw exhaust on my tire at full throttle in a turn. Not trying to take away from the bike its right on point and lots of love went in it and it shows but that exhaust scares me. Like is it safe scares me.

Just think of it as a tire warmer for cold weather.

Let me add I think that's the best looking exhaust I've seen, but it just seems like it may present a significant risk.

Man thanks guys ! I think I had even forgotten about this thread, but the 9er is still alive and kickin and I still love her as much as I did when I built her.
As far as the handling goes! It’s Great!!! The combination of swingarm, and new front end added just enough ride height to the rear to move the head angle about 1.5 degrees, and as a whole the wheel base is about an inch shorter than stock. The geometry turned out to be really close to the setup of a 954, just way more comfortable. There’s no way it would handle worth a crap thought had it not been for all new fork internals and the Penske on the rear.
I have never had a single problem with the exhaust, although I have always had those same thoughts in the back of my mind. I took it to the track once just to get the suspension dialed in, but don’t think I would make a habit of it. I also have the map running just a little lean to be on the safe side.
BUT….. this last summer I picked up a 2010 Ducati Streetfighter S to replace her as my daily rider…. Sooo she is back up on the lift and the next stage in her evolution has begun!! So stay tuned.

OK, it has been 11 months since you stated

"Sooo she is back up on the lift and the next stage in her evolution has begun!! So stay tuned"

Anything new?

That is one SWEET 919!!!! I know alot of work went into it, I have built many bikes over the years, and enjoy the satisfaction I get out of each build, I wish I had the motivation I used to when it comes to building bikes, but this 9er I own now is staying stock. Ilike the look of what you did, and think I may apply some of that to a new project I need to get on.

I look forward to seeing the new mods!

I was thinking about this bike the other day... since someone else drug up an old thread, I thought I would throw this out there...

Except for the exhaust and headlight, I think Honda had this bike in mind when they designed the CB1000R.

919 still looks better, IMO

Speaking of, how did he mount those rearsets - just drill into the frame?

^^^also agree, that 9er looks awesome. I like the new CB too, but I think they should have kept more classic lines to it.

Hate to keep kicking the heels of an older thread but I am extremely interested in what he did for mounting those rear passenger pegs. I think someone may have asked earlier in the thread but I would love to see some pictures of the mounting area and learn the specifics of what others may be able to clone....
