OOOH, buckycubes! I play with those, and my matching balls, at work.
Very fun, lots of other people like to play with them, too. They stretch them, separate, them, mash them into different configurations, and them build neat things like towers and necklaces out of them.

No way to know. Although, the almost always do one on special holidays, like Woot's Birthday (sometime in June or July I believe) April Fool's etc.
It's usually once a month or so. If you sign up for the Woot newsletter, they almost always send a newsletter out the day before 'hinting' that they've been really busy (preparing for the woot off).
I actually don't think I got one this round, however.
