I'm planning on catching up with my casting man soon as I've another piece in the works I need to discuss. I'll find out the cost on multi casts of the sprocket cover and see if it is viable to run off a few.

If we did a group buy, Allan could dropship them to one of us for additional disbursement.

Good thinking 99. They do not weigh much being alloy so this may be a excellent idea. You'll need to wait until I get to talk to my caster - bloody busy at work presently and weekends so I've not made my next project pattern for his approval. Once I have the word and a price I'll post.

I am interested in the sprocket covers as well if you get a small batch together.

does it get nasty with road grime that ends up on the chain? that little nook can get really dirty on the inside. I wonder with that hole how clean it stays

Aren't the stock ones are covered from 12 to 6 o'clock? I would think that the gunk inside the covers are from the chain lube picking up dirt and flinging it in there like a really fast conveyor belt

Getting any fling on your boots Allan?

No boot fling. Chain oil is as per the stock unit and directly flung straight up from the chain not out, nothing is seeping out the hole. Must get back to see my casting man.

AllenB, I sent you a PM, but if you would like we could set up for a batch to be made here in the US for those over here. I have a machinist that can do the work. Let me know!

...and of course we'd pitch in a kickback for the design ;-)

Hmm. If it is CNC machining I'd do it as a 3 piece unit.

1. Base piece which is also a case saver if the chain brakes - you could run it just as this.

2. Face plate 'C' shaped piece that fits over base plate - again you could run it like this with.

3. Top plate.

I suspect it would be cheaper this way too as less material and less machining.

What do they need to work from - I only have one!

He said that all he needs is a design with the dimensions. Did you draw it up for the first one or did you have a model?

Nah - I see this shit in my head and just start making it out of card templates then wood to get the casting pattern.

I can easily produce some decent working diagrams with dimensions that should suffice his needs and e-mail them too you.
