Feeler: Possible Group Buy - Boots

A new thread entitled Group Buy - Veloce Boots is now up and running. It was started to eliminate any further confusion. Please post questions or have yourself added to the ever growing list.

This thread is now officially closed.

Aquila-RC51 will hopefully be putting together a group buy for his new line of boots. Check out his thread in the for sale forum. These will be quality boots at a killer price. Please indicate with a simple AYE here or at his boot thread if you want in. Deals like this don't come around often.

Please indicate your preferences:
* boot type
* color
*euro size

This post will continue to update with anyone who wants to get in on the ground floor.

Please indicate boot type, color, and euro size.

Boot Descriptions:

TYPE I: These are oriented more to sports or track riding. They are braced from ankle to shin and thus they are more restrictive than the other boots. They are probably best suited to the racer, track day warrior, or weekend warrior who goes out carving the canyons in a full on race suit (1 – Piece Suit) and the only stops he or she would make is to buy more gas into the high performance sports motorcycle, say hello and good bye to the riding group and then bug off home. Typical ride time would be a couple of hours or so, with little walking around.

COMFORT RATING: 2 / 5 Stars

TYPE II: These are also sports oriented and ideal for sports riding or track days. They have a slightly different brace that offer a bit more movement than the Type I’s. They might be okay for a little bit of walking around – maybe in the café at the top of the canyon or sitting back at Starbucks for a half hour break. As far as market value, they will cost less than the Type 1’s when they are released.

COMFORT RATING: 3 / 5 Stars

TYPE III: These are the ideally suited for the street rider who wants adequate protection. They offer more movement and flexibility to the rider. Also, the slightly raised heel means more arch support for the foot which will help with walking / standing around and more frequent stops on a ride.

COMFORT RATING: 3.5 / 5 to 4 / 5 Stars

TYPE IV: These are like street boots with added race boot features. They have bracing, but not as restrictive as Type 1 boots. They would fall in between a Type II and II in features and a Type 1 and II in comfort rating. Though they sport a slight heel, I found it was not enough to make them ideal “walking around” boots for me as I have flat feet.

COMFORT RATING: 2 / 5 to 2.5 / 5 Stars.

Remember, these boots are still being tested so this rating / review might change a little later. We are always open to questions.

Thanks MisterMike!

There is a Type IV. The Type IV is probably only going to be in Black (See demo Ad)

I am still working on some details, but this is a chance to get in on the ground floor.

Aye! I'm in for a pair

Type: Type I
Colour: Black/grey or Black/silver - or just Black/white if that's the only option.
Size: I don't know what euro size I wear! I wear a 10.5 in shoes, and my army boots are 9XW (or EE). I'll see if I can find a conversion chart or something.

Checked a couple of charts: Looks like a 44 1/2 to 45

CHECK THIS CHART - let me know if I'm way off. I only get the XW in my army boots because my foot is tall at the arch, and shoe makers don't measure for that, just length and width. Thanks for this! I've been wanting some riding boots!

MisterMike - thanks so much for helping with this. By the way, I think there are still some people to add from the other thread.

Thanks a million.

This section appears to get the most viewing. I thought it would get lost in the 4-sale forum. I could add it to the GB forum if you like. The more exposure the better.

Yes, we have no boots yet, so our feets are naked!

According to (link): Men's Shoe Sizes Conversion Chart - International Sizes - Compare Men's Shoe Sizes Before You Buy Shoes Online

American 11 is Euro 45.

If you think it will help, sure. I was just wondering - I guess "Naked" gets all the guys excited...

Here, try this. It is pretty close as can be to what we will be using.

Hmmmmm puts me at a 46. Will have to look at the A-stars when I get home tonight. You would think with 3 pairs at the house I might know what size they were other than "11"

The Type IV looks intruiging...
can you talk a bit more about the materials and design of the ankle-to-heel attachment?

I have a pair of the old Sidi Vertebras, and I really like the way that design limits both the angle of ankle bend and torsion.

And...Caligula means "little boots..." hee. Couldn't help but think of that.

LOL!!!! Welcome back Nemo. You made me chuckle with the "Caligula" thing.. nice!

Before we looked into Boots, we actually used to recommend SIDI Boots. I respect a manufacturer that chooses to specialize in one product and make it the best possible. Over time, as with other things - their technology and innovations have inspired many other brands and manufacturers who now incorporate design aspects from SIDI. So... that said, I am giving them credit for their contribution to the market.

The Type IV's do not have the same torsional rigidity as the SIDI Vertebra Race Version - otherwise, they would cost in the same range. The Ankle bracing does limit both lateral and vertical moving - the lateral limitation being the most important. I would say this was a mid-level boot if compared to the SIDI Vertebra. The Race version of the Vertebra did have that metal bracing though, and that had siginificantly increased torsional rigidity. The TYPE IV would be the First Vertebra with a "little" more as that one did not have bracing on it.
