Looking good Roy!! I can't wait to see it all put together! I'm still a few months behind you on this project. I have some of the parts, but still need to get another 919 to bolt everything on to!
I'll be down in your area a couple times this year, I may need to go see this beast in person!
Cheers,
Mike

Wink Pre-fitment pics!!!

Here are some pics of the initial pre-fitting. It's looking pretty good.
I still need to trim the new low oversized ProTaper Contour Ricky Carmichael bend handlebars, fit the Oberon mirrors, and fabricate an upper triple clamp bracket for the OEM instruments.

Trimming off the front lower mount from the carbon fiber 2007 600RR front fender to fit on the RC51 front end. . .a perfect fit and alignment! My eyeballed measurements were accurate! The latest style of the 600RR front fender (the later 1000RR fender could work as well) is a very nice sleek minimalist design that complements the 919's lines. I always thought that the RC51, 954, and 929 front fenders were too bulky looking.

Fitting rather nicely. . .

A close up pic. . .
'07 600RR carbon fiber front fender; RC51 SP2 forks, gloss black powder coated RC51 SP1 6-spoke wheel, 954/RC51 calipers, '06 1000RR rotors.

Here's my 9er's vanity plate. . .

More to come. . .

Looking really good! Great work!

I never could find any MX specific bars with enough pullback. You like those?

I'm not trying to get this thread off-track, but I didn't think a new thread was warranted, so a quick answer or two will do...

I see pictures of 9's on jackstands, used either on the header pipes or on the oil pan. Do either one of those positions put too much stress on those parts?

9nineteen's are actually under the motor.

Generally if you use center stand or Phobman stand the weight on the header is not very much.
I wouldn't stress the header using a swing arm stand myself.
But I would figure if you do it very cautiously it would be OK, but your bikes stability is at risk.

Love the license plate, wonder if Indiana would allow something like that?

I raced MX and rode off-road for a number of years and I feel at home with dirt bike bars. However, the ProTapers on the 919 (or any street bike for that matter) I feel it needs a little more of a pullback.
I got a killer deal on the new Carmichael Lows. . .$20.

Ebay. . .I'd say more than 85% of the parts in this front end conversion is Ebay.

I can honestly say "It's almost DONE!!!"

I took the front end off at least five times today. . .trimming, grinding, refitting, trimming, griding, refitting. . .it's almost there.

Hey xrmikey. . .

Hey xrmikey. . .look closely at the last photo I posted!!

I managed to salvage the use of your ultra cool front brake line clamp on the 929RR bottom triple clamp, albeit upside down (Honda wing and 919 machined graphics)!!

For those unfortunate 9ers who don't have his brake line clamp, it is a nicely machined piece. . .a work of art. The quality of xrmikey's work is beyond the work of my custom CNC'd Full Throttle upper triple.

Again, kudos to xrmikey!!

Thanks Scorpio!

Ever since I first saw the 919 in 2002, I liked it. . .the underseat exhaust, the understated dark matte grey paint, and the nakedness.

Stylistically, I simply wanted to finish what Honda started (similar to what Honda did to their second-gen 599), and gave it a lil' superbike attitude with the carbon fiber bits and removing un-needed bits. The overall design approach definitely wasn't a streetfighter look like ocool's single-sided swingarm, wild exhaust, matte black custom creation. But, it is similar to the EMA and Roland Sand 919s without the extra black powdercoating.

Currently, I have the Oberon bar end mirrors. I'm debating whether or not to go back to traditionally mounted mirrors. ---decisions, decisions. . .

BTW, your former carbon fiber Buell flyscreen is available. Other parts available: narrowed silver Renthal Ultra Lows (drilled for controls), brand new/never mounted MBD belly pan, and may be the Oberon bar end mirrors.

I was tempted by the Impulsive model with the carbon fiber insert, but hard to beat the shape of the Radial Nakeds, really accents the 919 tank.

Yes...I noticed that.
I was wondering if it mounted up as a direct replacement or if you modified it to work.
Can you sand off the locater tab & spin it around upright?

From the rider's point of view, the brake line clamp is mounted off center to the right in a convenient threaded hole of the former brake line splitter of the 929RR. So the upside down position is best. This position works with the left Galfer brake line being longer.

Yup. . .I always wanted the classic Massimo Tamburini designed sportbike.

Early last year, I had one of the first 1098s on order. The wife talked me out of it. Got the 748 in December. . .for $4300, with Marchesini wheels, full Termi exhaust, and lots o' carbon fiber! I couldn't pass the opportunity. . .no way. ---I love it.

Scorpio. . .enjoy that 848. It's NICE!!
