DIY Handle Bar Swap

With spring around the corner, I really want to put a set of Renthal ultra low bars, I am mechanically inclined and done other mods already to my 919 but I have a few questions because I could not find any specific 919 videos on You Tube. All of your comments are welcome...thanks in advance!!

1) Will I have to shorten or change cables / brake lines?
2) On a scale of 1-10, how difficult? (1 easiest - 10 difficult)
3) Can I use my modified bar end weights?
4) Any mirror suggestions to compliment?
5) What else do I need to consider?

1) No

2) Maybe a 2

3) Modified in what way? Renthal UL bar ID is smaller than stock.

4) Bar end mirrors look good ie. CRG or Rizoma

5) Right switch cluster has a locator pin to prevent throttle housing
rotation on the bars. This will have to be removed or your bars
drilled. Just be sure you like the location of your bars before drilling.
I removed the pin in mine but couldn't tighten the switch housing
enough, so put a little black tape on the bar to help prevent any
rotation. After having ridden with the bars for a while I have purchased
a used switch housing and will drill my bars.

Not modified mx463, sorry about that, aftermarket super heavy and I want to continue to use them for sure (can't remember vendor, I'd have to do some digging in the cold garage) If it's only a 2 difficulty on the scale without a cable or brake line change, that's GREAT!

No

2)
7 and only because of the "drill or don't drill" aspect. If you drill for the pod pins, you need to do accurate layout work and really should be using a drill press. If you grind off the pins, then you have sloppy pods that need to be retained by other means. (I used some tape on the bar and it worked well).
3)
I think some others have reused the outers, but the stock inners can not be used as the UL bar ID is much smaller. I think I remember posts about using rubber hose for inside the bar.
4)
Personally, I like the CRG bar ends that are OD clamp mounted. (I'm running LSL bar ends and did not want bar end plug mounted mirrors)
5)
You don't have to remove the throttle cables to do the job. The trick is to move the bars to the left re removal of the stock and fitting of new bars re R & R of the twist assembly.
Do a search re the drill or don't drill. It can be found, as there's been a fair bit posted over the years on that.

I installed Rental High on mine, more sweep than stock, roughly same height as stock.

1) Stock brake lines and cables are fine, no change.
2) If you are mechanically inclined, it's a 1. The worst part is locating the switch housing pins and drilling the bars. Masking tape and either a dab of paint or a marker to leave you a reference to drill.
3) I used Rizoma bar ends, don't know what you are trying to install but the stock one won't work without the threaded inserts.
4) I installed CRG Hindsight LS. I clamped on vs their bar end inserts. They fold in when needed. Lowes has automotive caps to plug the holes if you go to bar end mirrors
5) Grips, levers, cable lubing....
