I had a gen 1 FZ1 for years but sold it and tried the more practical 919 as a commuter (lighter, better mileage, cool CB classic look, etc). I still like the Yammies though!

I like that black one. Looks wise, it's way better then the CB1000R. How does it stack up performance wise?

I read up too and most are getting 120-125 with no cat, replaced "can" and a pc, like you say.

I see now I guess it comes down to preference. I love mine, I have not seen any comparisons but I know it is hands down better than the 919. I can't speak to the passanger accomidations but they apper slim. I guess if folks are looking to upgrade the 9er there are better options out there but I bleed Honda so it really was my one thought, plus I think it is badass!! Thats my 2 cents.

i can't pay $1k more than the z1000(which won bike of the year by a couple of mags) and then get my ass handed to me by everything except rebels.
|
I guess I'm a terrible rider then because today I got my ass handed to me by my buddy on his DRZ, but he has been racing for many years & runs expert class at track days. Maybe I could have beat him if I had the z1000 instead of the CB

I had my 919 dyno tuned last summer and after cleaning up the fueling, my chart reads 105.16hp / 66.16lb-ft torque. The only mods I have are slip-ons and PC III. I already upgraded my suspension and brakes. If I'm going to spend $10K-$12K on a new bike I want it to be bigger and badder, not just a re-styled version of what I already have.
Honda de-tuned The CB1000R WAY too much. Honda CB1000R Horsepower and Torque Dyno - Heed 505 - Motorcycle USA
I REALLY want to like this bike, but I predict a sales failure.

My sentiments exactly. Especially when you start comparing the basic power to weight ratio. However, try to get some seat time if you can on a CB1R.
I was given a CB1R on a Saturday afternoon (built up quite a good relationship with the dealer over a few years)
and was told to drop it off at lunch time on the Monday.
I tried liking this bike to the point of justifiying the more than 100% trade in over the value of my 3 year old 919. I did a LOT of back to back riding between the 919 and the CB1R (my Dad has a 919 as well, so I hopped off the Cb1R and straight onto his a few times).
I so much wanted the CB1R, but just could not sign on the dotted line (had/have sufficient funds set aside and available). The difference in price was no where near the difference in performance for basically the same thing in a prettier dress.
I'd still gladly reconsidering getting one, when I can pick one (maybe a near new used one) up at a price that makes sense.

The FZ1N is a beautifull bike.
They are terribly scarce over here, well, you definately don't see them very often. I may have seen maybe 2 or 3 in the last few years. In the end they got them in from Australia per order (I see its no longer available).
Similar as per the CB1R, I think poor sales could be contributed to the pricing that was out of wack .
Pricing was pretty much up there/on par with 1L super sports bikes.
