Vfr 800?

Does the VFR 800 (781cc) belong in this forum? Looks like I fall in between forums...

Miss the 919 but am happy with the new ride.

You know better than that! C'mon we let pink scooter riding, no bike having, golf cart driving, yellow thing wearing, and foul mouthed Canadian women on this site! Hell even one rides a Beemer.

Of course you're in the right forum. Sweet looking bike!

Mine was an '83 VF750F. I miss her sometimes...
Dark8's been a member for a while now though.

In my opinion, a proper Interceptor is and always will be a 750 whether it's labeled 800 or not.

VFR is a class bike. Honda needs to keep investing in that rig to insure it's longevity. I would definitely consider owning one after stepping off the liter wagon.

Oh and Sporty, you accidently left the letter 'u' in the word 'color'. No big deal.

Color:

The appearance of objects or light sources described in terms of the individual's perception of them, involving hue, lightness, and saturation for objects and hue, brightness, and saturation for light sources.

Off subject of my off-subjectness... thinking about it, 'color' is a hard word to define.

Very nice bike!

My buddy has an 800 exactly like that. He picked it up about 2 months ago and he loves it! It's because of him that I've decided to end my too-long hiatus from riding and, as a result, I'm picking up my '06 919 in about 4 hours! Who hoo!

I am the friend h-ryder referred to... I had a '92 VFR750 that I wrung the neck of every time I went riding with 929's and the like (had the thing had better brakes I might not have sold it, although it was badly under-powered).

I bought the 2002 VFR 800 and immeadiately loved it. I do wring its' neck regularly (though with the baby, not so much these days). To me it's an awesome all around bike, great for the long hauls and I can't help but love sticking with 929's, RC's, R1's etc... on the twisty roads (with the Givi's on. I've got over 20K on mine and I think I am ready for a lighter, faster Sunday morning ride, but I'm keeping the Viffer, I've put her back together twice - once after a low side in NH and before that I slammed a dear head on... I think I am keeping this one a long time....

+1, but they are going to have to put some power into the V4 or it will soon be left in the dust. Even the 919 pulls much better (everywhere) then the VFR800 does. Sometimes I miss my old 919's raunchy style. That is until I go on a 400 mile day trip and realize why I like the VFR's refined manners so much. Two totally different machines.

I'm glad to hear you say that the 919 and VFR are totally different machines.

I have a 919 and just put a deposit down on a VFR so I'll have the best of both worlds- I was a little concerned that they'd be too much alike

Now if I can just sell my Harley before the payments start....

Brother, I must say, that is a sweet ass bike there. I rode a VFR in Cali last year, had it for about a week. I loved it and (sometimes although not often) regret getting FZ1 instead.

Excellent motorcycle! Here in Canada, it has an 843cc motor for '02 and later, is it not the same for the U.S.? Does yours have ABS? Also, here in Canada most insurance companies now consider it to be a sport-bike! ... which is why I have a 919 - not considered to be a sport-bike. Go figure. Difference in insurance cost is almost CAD1000 (+14% tax...)/yr.

Don't like it on the current model as much as the old one. It doesn't look bad in photos, but in person, not so much. Black and red look much better.

They've got three of those red/white/blue VFRs at the dealership in Louisville right now. I keep covering my eyes when I walk to and from the parts counter. Those things are sweet.

It's still there, I just prefer the old bike w/ the old paint scheme, rather than an old paint scheme on a new bike. My buddy used to have one of those beautiful old Interceptors. Man that thing was sweet.

I've had a couple older VRF 700's, 1987's. Those were grest bikes. I've always like the v-fours, Pobably get another someday, or maybe an 1100 Blackbird.

I saw the above Interceptor at Honda this weekend......and yes It's a looker.

I also saw the black Super Duke 990. What a hooligan...what a nasty hooligan.

More like 3 or 4 bikes. That would be more better.

I'm diggin' the new look (old look) Interceptor....

For me, this was the bike that started it all.....it was a real eye-opener.....

This image resides on top of my A/V center.....I look at it with longing eyes on a daily basis.....it also resides on my long list of "ones that got away".....

Hey, that brings back some memories! My riding buddy back in the 80's used to have one, it had a Kerker pipe on it and was loud as hell. With him on the Interceptor and me on an old CB900F Supersport, we used to ride all over southern Cali..

those were the days

Mine was Red for all of your Blue. I'll have to have the pic scanned. I miss mine as well. Loved it for trips. Miss the sound. Though I don't miss the weight and how top heavy it was. My RR is much easier to pick up, post drop, than the 750F was.

Red is cool but blue is "where it's at"........or at least "where it wuz"....

They were top-heavy pigs, eh?......and liked to stand up if you tried a little bit of trail-braking.....you had to be careful.

But for me, the noise and raw beauty of the bike made up for any short-comings.....mine had the "Supertrapps"...you tuned them by playing with the disks.....what a friggin awesome sound those V-4's made.

There's still a big part of me that would like to track down an older 1000......super-clean specimens fetch $4-5K on e-bay......

I've got the same plan to add a VFR and keep my 919. Nothing wrong with having both and if they are too similar keep the one that fits you the best. I just need more comfort on long rides.

So please report on the VFR vs. 919 when you get the new one!!

Regards,
Mark
