Sorry you're disappointed. That sucks.
Didn't you ride the 919 before the trade? Why do you like the vfr better?
There's about 15 of varying years on ebay: http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Motorcyc...0QQ_pcatsZ6000
If they made about 25 more hp I might consider one.
Hey Turbo,
No, I didn't. This particular local dealer is one of the best on the east coast as far as price and selection, but they will not let you test ride sport bikes. (Anti-squid measures, I'm sure.) I fell in love with the black matte finish, the upright position, ease of maintenance, and power/weight ratio. (It looks awesome paired up with my silver Harley!) Don't get me wrong, the bike is a blast to ride anywhere except the highway, but the 919's just too uncomfortable after an hour in the saddle. I don't like it enough to risk $450.00 on a Corbin seat which might not even solve the problem. Better to cut my losses (again) and look for another used VFR. That '01 Interceptor was, so far, the perfect sport bike for me. Comfort, power, great looks, reliability, and it's not an I4.) I guess you don't know what you've got till it's gone, eh? That said, I want to look at a few other bikes before I recommit to another VFR.

If you love the VFR, test ride the Sprint ST. It's not a VFR, but it will be a nice comparison to make. And after picking the 'wrong' bike, it would be good peace of mind to do some comparison shopping. And it's fun to do!

Love to Ken, but the nearest Triumph dealer is pretty far up the road. They also carry Ducati, which I'd really like to ride. However, they don't have a stellar service reputation (perhaps just rumor, but...). My "high dollar" ride right now is the Harley so my metric fun's got to be in the sub-$6K range right now.
Well bikeknight, Why don't you try and get your '01 VFR back. The dealer may not have sold it yet and may be willing to sell it back to you at a deal.
If the issue is only the butt paralysis issue I know the Corbin makes a huge difference if you are comfortable sitting a bit taller in the saddle. I got mine for ~ $280 on e-bay; it just took a while to find one.

Mark
Yep, already thought of that, Mark. I kept looking in the used bike section for it to show up after they prepped it. Never did see it. I figured they sold it before it even hit the floor. Then I happend to look in the employee parking area one day and saw the bike! , I said. Guess who bought my bike? That's right, the salesman who took it in trade. Low balled me, too. Needless to say... well, I won't say it.
I'm sure they all got a pretty good laugh when I left with the 919 that day.
Thanks for the tip on Corbin. Just not sure whether I'm keeping the Hornet yet.
I went by the Honda Shop last week and there sat an 08 VFR. I've always wanted one. Came home and showed Dee a pic and she liked it but, now I look like a $$$ hound wanting another bike. I may just go over and buy it and then come home to a good a$$ whipping. It won't hurt but maybe a week.
My friend down the street has 2 of the 80s V4s, one V45and one V60. They are spotless and with stock pipes sound oh, so , nice! I like following him when we ride. Only thing nicer to my ears is a Ducati.

Would you say that the Interceptor and 919 are pretty comparable in terms of thrust? How's the handling on the interceptor...is it easy to through around?

well i dont know about the older vfr's but the newer ones are anemic in 1st gear.. i love the handling .. incredible handling BUT they are weak in 1st gear even when the v-tec kicks in.. at speed on the interstate it pulls hard.. but my 919 will leave one like its pulling a trailer.. thats just my observation.. what do i know i only sell them
I have actually rode side by side with my brothers 919 and I can tell you they are so close in acceleration it's crazy.
We both got on it going down the road and were side by side until he had to shift and then I barely pulled ahead.
The slow 1st gear you speak of doesn't exist on my bike, maybe it is a vtec thing in the later years (mine's a 2000).
As far as handling the vfr is very smooth through the corners, but when I rode my brothers bike you definetly feel like your in another wieght class. His 919 felt like I could flick it around like a dirtbike.
I would be much more confident riding his bike in heavy traffic. Bottom line both bikes have their strong points,
I only wish I could have one of each.
Maybe I will steal his, he couldn't press charges on his own blood......
