I believe it is 08 only. I'll assume those that complained about it had legit claims. That said, it doesn't effect all 08 bikes.
The dealer I bought mine off of said they have not had any complaintss yet. A friend at work has one with 2k miles on it and his is fine. Mine has 6500 on it and has not used a drop of oil yet.
So I'd guess a small group of engines got a bad shipment of rings, or poor honing.....Something to that effect.

08 only and as above only some of them. Random. Rings apparently. I know of one in NZ that was completely replaced for a new bike due to excessive oil comsumption
Reminds me of the Suzuki Bandit 1200 incident some years back just with less denial.

That is a beautiful bike. The rear CF cowl is probably the best implementation of CF on the rear of a bike I have ever seen. It always seems to never fit quite right, but yours, with those CP cans out the back, too, wow. Just awesome!
Now you need to find deals like that for the rest of us!

I have fantasized about Ducatis for years. That thing is a work of art. Since I have no car and therefore ride my bike every day, I wonder how big my triceps would be if I owned your machine instead of the 919.

Well, the Ducati decided that 20,000 miles was enough and decided to be a pain in the ass soooo.

The Ducati burnt 2 valves, then after $2400 in repairs it decided to self destruct due to something the tech forgot to torque properly. After 4 months of them trying to get it resolved they ended up buying the bike from me and I bought this. I ran that Ducati pretty damn hard, and loved it but I couldn't wait any longer.
This RSV4 Factory is definite upgrade, and the v4 sings to me.

My goodness. Does the RSV feel smaller than the CBR and 1098?
