Leo Vince Carbon Fiber High Mount Full System

As a lot of you know I sold the 919 some time ago and picked up a 2002 ZX9R last year. I haven't made many mods to it yet, but I found a deal I couldn't pass up on ebay. Bought a Leo Vince SBK carbon fiber high mount full system. It was $300 new. From what I found that system usually sells for somewhere between $800 - $900. A little late to ask for opinions since it is already on the way, but I was wondering if any of you have any experience with Leo Vince pipes and what you think of them.

My opinion is that the build quality seems to be great. I am hitting the UPS tracking site every day hoping it will get here earlier than expected.

I had a Leo Slip on on my 2000 929RR. It was Ti and just beautiful. Not a real aggressive note but just a great all around rig. My 929 with the vince put down about 132 according to the DynoJet run at their North Las Vegas plant. I was happy with it, but I ended up wanting more so I picked up a full Ti Arata from Dan Kyle.

Vince is nice stuff in my book based on my single experience.

Bigdaa,
Thanks for the info. If anyone is interested I will post some before and after pics and maybe some video of the install.

I hope the exhaust note will be somewhat aggressive. Anything should be an improvement over the stock can.

I've always liked Leo Vince stuff, no complaints about them here.

Sounds to me like you picked up a great deal, way to go!

I have been thinking the same thing. Hopefully this is legit. UPS tracking says the system should be delivered Monday. I will let you know if everything looks as it should. I may even take some pictures of it and have you guys take a look.

I am really excited about it! My mods are usually few and far between. So getting a deal like this makes it worth the wait.

Do you still have your ZX10R, or are you riding something else now? I really wanted a ZX10R, but my wallet told me I would have to be ok with the ZX9R.

My LV system is going to be delivered tomorrow. I'm ticked off because I am still gimped up from my hernia surgery and won't be able to install it for awhile! Maybe I'll take it out of the box and sleep with it tomorrow night.

I would but he doesn't have a system for a 919. My bike is a 2002 ZX9R.

He has them for quite a few other bikes but not a 919.

Sorry.

It sounds as though my exhaust came directly from Leo Vince. I messaged the guy asking him how he was able to sell these systems so cheap. Here is his response:

We are getting rid of our older inventory at 60%-70% off, just making room for new inventory. Our loss is your gain.
Thanks Again!

Got it installed today. Still haven't taken any pictures. I will try to get a few this weekend.

Install went pretty smooth. The toughest part was probably getting the 4 head pipes lined up and slid into the 2 2-into-1 collectors and then getting both of them slid into the the single 2-into-1 collector.

I like the sound. It is aggressive without being loud and annoying. Haven't ridden it yet since the hernia surgery is still preventing me from riding. I am interested to see if there is a noticeable performance improvement. If you believe the dyno charts that the manufacturer included with the system I should definitely be able to feel the difference.

I forgot.......do you have the PC with it on your bike? I ask because you'd certainly want to download the appropriate map, then................if your hern allows, take it out and pin it's ears back!!

Bigdaa,

My bike is old (carburetor) and the Leo Vince documentation with the system said it was designed to use stock fuel settings. I will run it for awhile and see how it does. If it seems lean I will investigate re-jetting.

Anything special I should do to maintain the carbon fiber....I have never had any CF on the bike before.

Here are the pics I promised. I know a lot of you guys don't like Kawasakis but let me enjoy showing you my pipe without dogging out my green machine

Thanks for enjoying it with me. Not sure if anyone caught my question in my picture post...but any tips for maintaining or caring for the carbon fiber so that it will last?

Looks great! As far as the carbon fiber, just try not to leave it out in direct sunlight any more than absolutely necessary, the UV rays will fade it and break down the fibers over time.

Wow that thing's georgeous! I've always likes Kawies and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. There's a lot to be said about the simplicity of a carburated bike, as long as it's jetted correctly. That thing is a classic. Be kind to it.

Bike stays in my garage when I am not riding it, so it should be easy to keep the pipe out of the weather. I was so surprised at how cool it stays even after the bike gets up to temperature.

Thanks! This is the first Kawi I have owned. My Dad has owned several and has always liked them. It took me awhile to get accustomed to the Kawasaki "clatter" of the engine. Honda valvetrains are typically pretty quiet. The ZX9 is actually pretty comfortable for a sportbike. Haven't had a chance to put very many miles on it since I bought it late in the season last year, but I hope to ride the wheels off of it this year.
