Hyosung GT250 - took delivery TODAY

Okay.. as promissed; first review on the bike. Today I finally got my bike! After a lot of paperwork and running around between the bank and the DMV I finally dropped the cheque of and I had titled and registered the bike in my name. Since I haven't riden a bike for a while I asked if one of my collegues would drive with me to Lake Luzerne. Turned out that both the boys had some time to kill and they rode op with me.

At first I was kinda pleased with the bike. Loved the "open" feel and for a second I didn't even miss my car. We decided to go over spier falls road and that's where the fun started - and the sobering up part too for that matter! The other 2 salesmen drive a 1000cc (Yamaha & Honda) and the difference became pretty obvious. Where i was strugling uphill and with the sidewinds, the 1000's could accelerate like crazy and stabilize themselves somewhat by doing that. Kinda of a bummer.... as I was riding my own speed; a smile slowly came to my face. I know I am going to have my hands full on keeping the bike on the road, learning to take the turns and slowly getting gutsy of course. It was then again why I realised the reason why I bought a 250cc as instead of the 650. Fun & Fuel economy... So I got a bit gutsier, throwing the bike down in turns, shifting down and let it rip (for as good as it could that means).

Just like driving the car, this is FUN! And after i got the shifting part down; i started paying attention to some things like RPM, handling and that kinda stuff. It feels great and is surprisingly better to control than I ever thought possible. Due to the fact that it isn't the fastest bike in the world, it gave me NO surprises at all. No funny feelings; nothing unexpected and totally predictable! Just the way I like it!

All with all, for the Money I spend on it... The first fill up was only $ 11,00 for a full tank of 93 octane; the $ 89.00 a year insurance and the payment of only 80 dollars a month... i definately did the right thing!

Thnx.. well; I don't wanna post any spam on here, but I had a professional come in taking images of our bikes. Lemme send you that link;

http://ridehyosung.com/streamhyosung.htm

Have a look at the images by Ross Mealey and Patricia Strickland. They been taking some of the images up here and they turned out really nice!

That's alright. Send me a GT250 and you can have 3 years of unabashed channel marketing on this website. Send me a GT650R and you can have 8 years.

Inverted forks! Nice cant say that about any Japenese 250!

What is Hyosung, never heard of them in my life, I like that 650! Th price is right too!

DO you all think that would be a good track bike?

I believe Alphasport might be the name to look under to find info on the Hyosung bikes. Specs are a lot like the SV 650, which makes a good track bike. The 600RR will mop the floor with it, though.

It still looks good, and for the price you cannot beat it!

600RR will mop the floor in almost any super sport race

Great beginner bike IMO. Gets the look most want and less price.

No comparo to a 600RR or any other main line middle weight.

I am still amazed by what I have gotten for only a couple dollars!

Well, for a 650 V twin RIght. Not bad. VERY low in the HP numbers!, but it made a considerable amount of torque. The price is right. I think if I got one it would turn some heads around here in South Florida since no one knows anything about other kinds of bikes, especially the 919, someone thought it was a Ducati

For the speedfreaks; Hyosung has performance parts now for the 650 series! I have helped building the site; www.hyosungperformance.com. A small scooter store in Cape Cod that starts selling accessories. We have been waiting for that for a while now.. have a look!

i tested the 650 in sepang 2 weeks ago, and while it has a decent engine..a good suspension is needed for this bike i think..

Lilnin nin, merging the threads would just be a sign of a totally anal personality and I don't thing our Dark Lord administrator is that way. So, I suggest you get the info you need and not sweat it.

What's the update on the bike? You haven't posted on it in quite awhile.

What's the deal with the Hyosung anyway? From what I've read, it's a Korean bike. Is it like... the equivalent of a Hyundai or a Kia in the Motorcycle world?

Is this the one you're buying?

Does anyone else find it amusing that async dredges up threads that died months ago? Is async short for asynchronous? If so, it certainly fits the bill.

I would not buy this bike, we used to sell them at the dealership in Austin, and they were constantly coming back to the dealership for repair to the point we called them and had them come pick all of them up and had to refund the money to almost every customer that had bought one, there is a reason why they are so cheap. If I remember right the Tachs were reading Kilometers, rust in the gas tanks and the parts were few and far between. I would save up and buy from a major 4 , just my two cents, str8

hmmm... why is it that 8 months later, we have a new screen name from the same town touting this bike??? coincidence? they dropped by our shop a few times to see if we'd pick up the line, they're good looking bikes, but we've had issues with the chinese/korean made lines before. prolly not worth it

yeah.. new screen name, same person.

I work as rep now as instead of dealer employee. Chinese and Korean is not quit the same, ride them and / or have a good look at 'em.

My grandma used to say: It is what it is. Hyosung is a bike with proven technology, a great frame and a lot of bang for the buck. Even if you doubt the brand, a lot of new dealers signing up in my area proof you wrong.

They sell, are reliable and the reputation of being a reliable brand is spreading. Thnx for your feedback though... all is welcome!

I've read in one of my Brit mags that Hyosung made parts for the Suzuki SV650, so it was natural for tham to start making their own bikes. Supposidy, pretty decent bikes. The brakes need some improvement, tho.

Hyunday and KIA aren't a joke anymore, are they?
