Honda 954 vs Gsx-r 750

I am interested in purchasing one of these two. I ride all rear around. I am interested in taking it to the track soon and the years to come. I know the 750 is the "God" of track bikes but is there any reason to go for the Honda? Opinions and facts are welcomed.

2002, honda 954rr, 7,800 miles,
2005, Suxuki Gsx-r 750, 9,800 miles,

Both are 4,500

Been a Honda man all my life. But scored a sweet deal on my GSX-R and I wouldn't trade her for anything. You really can't go wrong with either. But I always like a little more displacement, too

Both are awesome bikes.
I have the 750 as a track bike, 07 that is.
Never ridden a 954.
I like the rate of interchangeability and ease of finding used parts for the GSXRs.

Coming to a honda forum you'll get alot of people saying buy the honda, most likely.

Honestly between the two, IMO buy the GSXR. The 954 is nice but the GSXR has more positives going for it like
1. Plenty of aftermarket parts still available (Power parts to) compared to the 954
2. As mcromo said, parts are interchangeable
3. You can still find replacement parts easily, lots of them around compared to the 954. (especially if you plan on doing track days)
4. The 954 is nice, but I see the GSXR are being a upgrade compared to the older tech on the 954.

But hey, in the end it's what feels best for you!

You've nailed it overall very nicely.

My opinion:
The 954 would be the better street bike.
The GSXR the better track bike.

If you spend 75% of the time on the street, you might make a concession for the Honda.
If 75% of your enjoyment will come from the track, you might make a concession on the street and go for the Gizzer.

yea after riding both of those i can say the same as above the 954/ 929 is a great comfy bike, the gsxr being your looking for a track bike bike would be better because of the parts interchange from 600/ 750/ 1000, now that being said not everything interchanges, normally on the 600 and 750 your fine the 1000 will some times beef things up like the steering stem (i found this out the hard way) and have something just different like the swing arm ( also found out the hard way). plus the gsxr will be lighter this will help on the track in flicking it from side to side and you will beable to hold a higher corner speed (ofcourse all things being = )

yes....my vote goes to the Suzy for heavy track use. That's just the way it is.

You want longer legs, for way out rides including superslab, 954.
