Read an arcle by Gadson. They took that 14R and a busa to the strip and the the guy the bike ran something like 4 mph faster. Uncorrected numbers. That is crazy. 4mph is huge in the 1/4.
Naturally I want one. As do we all.
not my style.... maybe some dude down in miami can get one slap on an extended swingarm and chrome out the thing and have it be his style... but me naw N8KD4LF!!!!
meh... to big, to long to have any fun on anything but the straights IMO.
I KNO I KNO people can flick them around the twisties.... but not the super tight stuff of the santa monica mtns.
People say the same thing about the 919 - call it a fat pig, etc. Then along comes the guy dragging his knee on a gold wing. That new ninja 14 in bright green and flames makes me smile - hot wheels paint job. Bad ass. Good evolutionary improvements in my opinion - would love to have one but not sure what I'd do with it. Probably gawk a whole lot!

Makes me wonder what suzuki will do for 2013.
There's a video on youtube on this.
And I think it gained a good bit of weight from the last gen. Hot bike, nonetheless.
I find funny that people call bike X a big fat pig when on bike Y they still have 3" chickenstrips. NO offence to those that use the full potential of a particular machine but the vast majority of folks can only go fast in a straight line. So, only makes sence to buy a bike that is really good at it.
I'm sure this 14R is more than capable of getting around a corner faster than most can do. And if you got the coin to drop 15k on a new bike. You probablly have enough money to already have a light weight corner carver anyway.

haha so very true.
tho, no chicken strips here i grind pegs all the time knee down on my 919.
The op's bike has its place, as does every bike... just plain n simple not my style
I am so excited about the possibility of the horsepower wars starting up again.
And with talk of the supercharged version, well, this could get really good.
I spoke to the owner of the largest dealership in the area, he mentioned the supercharged verson, so I think it may be more than just hype, it may very well be on the way - and that would be a good thing!
If you've never ridden a ZX14R, well, do it, they are INCREDIBLE!
For what they are, I'd not want to ride any great distance on one....
Around town, holy cow, the power - The only thing that got my blood flowing more was a second generation VMax.
Fun times!

It's kind of funny that his bike since I became aware of it through mambo's
thread is pulling me away from the adventure side of the track with the Trump 800 and Yammie Super Tenere'
I noticed in one of the little blurbs that the Big Green FourTEEN has a slide out air filter that once the tank is raised, a little door is opened and the the air filter is just pulled out.
That's pretty nice.
It's that weird sense that got me back in 2004 with my ZX10R, but I was in better shape back then.
Whatever. My buddy in Phoenix has his Busa and is itchin for a long ride. 10r or ZX14 it would be fun any way you look at it.

There's something about a big ol honkin motor. I rode a ZX-12 ten or so years ago when they first came out. I was in England and a buddy in Liverpool pre-ordered and got one. I rode that thing around Liverpool with a t-shirt and an ill-fitting flip up helmet he loaned me. Talk about a thrill - sun burned shoulders and half my pants missing from the pucker
Your problem is solved ... Brand new left-over C14 with turbo kit is still cheaper, faster, and a much more comfortable mileage eater.
It's all academic to me. No fucking job after Dec 31'st.
However, that's most likely engineered for the 14 and not the 14C. One's shaft, the others chain and I'm sure there is going to be hardware interference. Nothing that money can't solve.

Read the article in M/C yesterday. Good job Kawasaki ! Glad they went full tilt boogie on it and didn't just bump the displacement. Headwork, exhaust, ecu, beefed in all the right spots. The whole package. Yes. Mr. Busa and Mr. Max are officially sidelined.
I got to spend about an hour on a 2011 ZX-14 not too long ago. Holy mother of God that thing is fast!. I've ridden a lot of liter bikes over the years but they pale in comparison to the 14 as far as pure acceleration. That thing will rip your arms outta the sockets if you aren't careful. It is heavy but actually fairly easy to maneuver in city traffic and mild mannered if you want it to be. My 919 felt like a scooter after riding the 14.There's not a lot of twisties in Dallas so that's not really a concern for me. If I had the cash I would get one. That thing is a pure adrenaline rush.
I'm all for speed but I keep seeing turbos on Busa's or ZX's for the street? It might just be easier to drink a bottle of Kettle and tap your mouth shut.
I like the idea of the Busa and ZX14, and for sure they're pure insanity on the street, but I just can't stand to look at either one - especially the Busa. I'd love to ride one, but I'd never own one.
One review said that the 2012 ZX-14 makes 197.4HP and 119.9 lb/ft torque at the wheel!!
Another article had a drag racer take the 2012 Hayabusa and ZX-14 to a drag strip - straight out of the crate, the Busa did a 9.7 second quarter mile at nearly 150mph. The ZX-14 did the quarter in 9.4 seconds at 153mph! 0-60 in 2.6 seconds!!
If I only had time to ride one bike at the demo day I would choose the Ninja 1000, but I would also want to see how different the Z1000 feels, and increase my heartrate with a ride on the ZX-10 and ZX-14!

Let us know what you think.
fucking lame... only 1 in seattle (3-4 hours away), and 4 in cali with 3 being in southern cali, yet none to portland..... total b.s....
Our local dealer is not expected one for another month or so.
I just wanted to sit on it, really......
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to ride a second generation VMax, the power was totally intoxicating. That bike is way up on my list of "someday" machines.
The "new" ZX14r is as well, holy cow, to those that have ridden a ZX14, you know why......
