VFR1200- $12000

I just stopped in at my favorite honda shop in Greenville TX and they had their beautiful VFR marked down to less than 12000 since its not selling in this area . I'm pretty sure this is a pretty damn good price so if you're in te area might be worth the trip. I tried getting the wife to let me drive it back to MD but she wouldnt have it.

Man, these posts make me sick, bikes are so cheap in the USA.

The VFR1200 was short term discounted @ NZ$19,900 (usually $24 ish) and the CB1000r was down to NZ$15k. There were CHEAP prices down here!

It is not unusual for used 919's to go for NZ$7-9k at a dealer depending on condition and kms.

CB1000R for 7K?!?! I doubt I'd see anything like that around here. Let alone a VFR12 for under 10K... used...

Rode a VFR1200 DCT in Roanoke about 3 weeks ago. Coolest thing I've ever ridden. If my feet and legs were not placed in a riding position similar to a thouroughbred jockey, I would have bought it, but I knew I could never make it comfortable for my 52 year old 3 knee surgery body.

I'm to the point of calling a douche a douche, and Honda has done everything it can to work itself into that role.

I've been a loyal Honda fan for what seems like forever, but they seem to be moving in a different direction that I care to travel, and they are doing so arrogantly.

Icing on the cake for me was when I met a local regional rep, wanted to talk about my thoughts for a future Gold Wing, he shut me down before I could even get going -"We use focus groups not to make those decisions" -

ummm ok.
im sure they hear alot of "ideas" for bikes. not all of them are resonable, and after a while these reps just get sick of catching hell from the consumers, it just gets easier to not go there.
i work for honda and i hear it all the time "if they would just make this or that i would buy it" but infact you would not because it cost to much.
like the cb1000r lot of people said they would buy it if it came here to the US. then it came now people say they will wait a few yrs and buy used. honda does not care if you buy used. they need you to buy new.
Oh and this is the wrong thread to be complaining about honda. the OP was posting up a good deal on a VFR1200, thats it.

Yes, Honda brought the CB1000r here because people wanted it, but lately Honda's pricing is absolutely retarded. Here in Canada the CB1000r is around $14,000-$15,000...and it's not worth that at all, it's a nice bike but it's a 11-12K bike, It's not a technical marvel by any means..it's a plain naked bike with standard features. The same can be said for alot of Honda models with the exception on sportbikes and cruisers are the only bikes priced fairly decent with other competitors bikes.

Now back to the main topic, OP I would buy that at that price if I were you. I test rode the VFR1200 standard and DCT and they are awesome bikes!

I agree with you 100% that the bike is priced way to high, it should cost on par with a 08 cbr 1000rr which was being sold here for under 10k. that same bike today a cbr1000 is much much higher. a 2010 600rr is now being sold for over 13k. its not just the bikes we want that the prices are going up on its everything.

1 big fact is that the shipping charges alone are getting close to 1k per bike, thats not hondas fault

I just watched a youtube video on the vfr. It has an electronic shift system. NO shift peg. It has 3 modes

1. d mode: which is like economy mode. Bike automatically changes gears for you
2. s mode: sport mode. Still automatic but more sporty
3. MT mode: which is manual mode. The gear shifters are on the left side controls.


I don't think I would like that. Maybe I'd have to try it, but I enjoy changing gears with a clutch I can control and a foot shifter.

Boogunoogun, you watched the DCT version, you can still buy a regular standard version of the VFR.

I said the same thing as you...until I tried the DCT version and it simply works great. The automatic side of it works as you think it would (it's okay) the manual side is just great...there is no way a person can shift faster then the DCT in manual mode..and it's fun to ride.

one of the biggest faults with the 1200 (either model) is that it has a 4.9(2010) gallon or a 5.0 (2012) gallon tank.in the 180mile range. not a good thing on this type of bike.

180 miles isn't too bad... I can only get about 160 miles on a tank of gas on my 919. I prefer to stop every 150 miles or so just to stretch my legs.

I really like the VFR. I would buy one, but my 9er is paid for.

180 is great compared to the superhawk i had last summer, but for this type of bike its not great. the vfr800 is just over 200miles
