mrmaguu, i suggest you try practicing moving the bike around with it leaned in towards you a little and you lean in towards the bike a little. hopefully this makes it easier for you to move the bike around and is enough that you can keep it.

mrmaguu,
I am just a few steps behind you in age.
I have found the 919 to be one of the lightest feeling bikes for its 900cc size, about on par with a 650.
I still ride my RC51 regularly and the RC51 is a relatively heavy bike and top heavy, to boot.
The suggestion to lean into the bike, as you move it, is a good one. I thought that everyone moved there bikes that way.
If you feel that your balance and strength is not what you would like then you might think about a Can Am Spyder. They seem to be quite popular. Thought the Spyder would not be that easy to push around either.
Good luck either way you decide and keep riding.
The riding time me in front of me is shorter then the riding time behind me.

Why not just slowly ride it in over the bumps?

or maybe build up a small concrete or similar ramp either side of the bump.

If you're not comfy with it...Off it and get a different one. Riding is is supposed to give you a good grin, not a grimace. Btw, I ride mx with a guy 64 yrs old, He clicks of 80 ft triples without a second thought....You're only as old as you feel....

I'm local to you, over in Belchertown, I'll ask around and see if anyone is interested in buying it if you're still selling.

On the other hand if building a small ramp is the way to let you keep it, I'll give you a hand with that as well.

Strange I haven't seen you riding around. I definitely would have noticed.

Hi Orange, I rent a storage unit so I don't think I could alter the entrance. I have only been here 5 weeks,so haven't done much riding. But I have been through Btown several times,a favorite area to ride,202,181,32 are some good ones, traffic not bad, hate all the traffic. We should meet up when warm and ride, sure you could show me some nice rides.

SV650 is a great bike. Lots of torque for the size. But my old one didn't really feel that much lighter to me. Slightly so, but not sure enough to make you notice it at low speeds. I would try sticking out the 919 for a bit longer and seeing if you get more comfy with it. If not, by all means sell it. A Ninja 250 really isn't a bad option. I've thought about one just for riding around town for fun. They'll hit 100 mph with a tailwind and are still faster 0-60 than the vast majority of cars on the road.

First thing I would suggest is to not use ur front brake at slow speeds if you can. I have a street glide and hope I never have to pick it up! 😱But I'm telling you this from the experience of someone who know how to handle a heavy bike. Don't lean at slow speeds unless you are counter balancing the bike. Highly recommend a motorcycle safety course.

Don't know if this helps, but I'm 64 and not a very strong guy. I find the 919 to be very light and easy to handle once you get comfortable with the balance points. My other bike is an 800 lb. Victory Cross Country hard bagger. Learn your limitations and you can ride almost anything.
Please don't give up on your bike. I think you'll find that after having poerful bikes it is just not easy ( or fun) to go smaller.
Anyhow, just my thoughts. Good luck.

I'm 63 175lbs 5'9'', have had rotator cuff surgery, tore a ligament in my right bicep on the same side as the cuff. I love my 919, not the fastest thing out there but it's the first bike I've ridden that I don't twist the throttle to the limit every time I get on, unlike when I was 16 on my new 1966 Norton Atlas. Take your time slow and easy getting used to it and keep it, in my feeble opinion this is the perfect all round bike. I do also have a 1989 Honda NT 650 Hawk also fun though not exhilarating.

Enjoy
RIch

Plenty of good riding out here, rode the other day out to Wachussett mountain so a buddy could pick up his season pass. I've been in Btown for about 3 years now, before that Westfield for 2, I've got a pretty good handle on some good roads but there is PLENTY more to explore. Whenever you want to go for a ride let me know.

Rte 9 into Ware for a breakfast meet up, rode out with 2 other guys, bandit 1200 and another 919.

We took roughly 9 to 32 to 62 with a few side road detours to check out other places. Only about 55 miles each way but a good cold season ride anyways.
