Wierd Things

I've noticed lately that many avatars are not appearing. It will say 'cmurphy84's avatar' then when I mouse over the text the image appears. The alt text also appears on the rep bar.

Anybody else experience this?

I have not.

Does it matter if it's an animated gif as opposed to a plain ol' still image?

it doesn't matter if it is animated or not. Heck, even the buttons on the WYSIWYG editor do it. Just now, the Quote button at the top said 'Wrap [QUOTE] tags around selected text'. As soon as I moused over it, the button appeared and the text went away.

This is in Firefox 3.0.12

I've attached a screen shot of (oddly enough) my avatar missing in action...

This is totally out of my realm of expertise.
I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.11 (budget is tight here, they don' let us upgrade)

So, um... I'd blame Windows

IE8 forced me to switch to chrome. Even FF was flaking out for me from time to time.

Other than MOSS and OWA I haven't needed to use IE in a long time.

+10

I hate IE8. I only use it for getting on the Sharepoint HelpDesk and checking OWA from time to time.

I'll try IE just to see if it works, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna' like it.

...and Doug...that must be one tight budget if you can't do a FREE upgrade!

Just want to say I already hate IE8. It's tabbed browsing is too slow.

Beat me too it!

I haven't used IE in a long time, and would you know it... I think the quality of my life has improved! I tried Chrome and found it rather unstable for me? My current antique setup may have something to do with it.

I agree, IE sucks but it will tell you whether it is a problem with firefox or not.

If you want, I can ask my good friend if he has any positions available. He's the manager of a graphic art department for an apparel company. All the artists get to work from home.

This would be a great thread for Lash to appear from the mist and comment on.

Alright. I switched over and used IE for almost an hour, and didn't see the problem there. I had other issues with IE. Mostly the speed and everything looked kinda fuzzy. I'll just live with it or wait for Lash to pop in and fix it.

You could maybe try reverting to an older version of FireFox... it still works

j/k

Extended absence does make for a more dramatic entrance.

If it helps, I did notice that once 3.0.12 came out, your avatar was missing. This was last week or so.. Maybe ten days max.

Since I am running 3.0.12 and things are working ok in Mac OS 10.5.7 and Vista, I might suggest resizing the avatar to a slightly "off" or smaller number. Don't push the avatar limit size. I believe that it's a mutual translation issue with VBulletin or the board software.

Mozilla isn't always right on top of things, but they are definitely the best in the arena.

Good Luck..

I switched to 3.0.12.15.34.76.45.18.88.2 rev.1.23.693245674 and I noticed if I have quite a few beers I see two of your avatars. Maybe yours is hiding at my house.

I'm using 3.0.13 on both Windows and Linux, and several avatars are missing from most every page. Can't say as it bugs me much - if I really need them, I can reload the page.

I knew I wasn't crazy. It doesn't really bother me, but I did notice it.
