Valve stem alert.

Hey guys I have posted this on some of the other boards that I active on and thought y'all might like to know about.

We have started seeing over the last year the rubber valve stems fail on most metric bikes. We don't see it much on the HD stuff but all the sportbikes, cruisers, and touring have had a rash of bad stems.

We think they are out of China go figure. We replace everything that comes thru the door. You might want to give your valve stems a quick check. Just push on them and see if they are cracking if so they are bad and I would get them changed. They can fail while riding. Hope it helps.

Check your air pressure and ride safe.

Thanks for the heads up.

Purely out of interest do you ever get any stick about your company name from the exhaust chaps?

My 990 came with metal valve stems.

All my other bikes got switched to metal angled valve stems, long ago, mostly because they're easier to check air pressure with. Probably a good time for those who have not made the switch, to do so.

I change my valve stems at every tire change. For the sake of less than a dollar, it yields peace of mind.

BTW, I got my Iridium plugs for the ST1300 in the mail today. That was quick.

Thanks Tim,

Doc

Cool didn't you have 2 or 3 sets of tires also? I know one is on the way. The others will leave tomorrow.

The ST Battery came this afternoon via UPS. I haven't seen the tires yet.

Speaking of valve stems...Do you have the right angle (or 80 degrees...whatever it actually is) aluminum stems in flat black?
