small leak, what do i do

it is near the tranny, but by the thing to the right of the tranny, near where it says the 919 imprinted on the metal. its this translucent reddish liquid. it tastes kinda strange *it had been raining and i didn't know if it was water or not so i put a little on the tip of my tounge* and it drips really slowly, maybe 4-5 drops per 24 hours.

i was thinking of getting this stuff that seals leaks and just seal it. or does anyone else know what it may be?

bike: Honda 919 2002.

i added the link so you can see the side i look at.

its hard to explain, i would take a photo but my camera; aka phone; is broken. i hope someone can help me out.

EDIT: someone said its the engine itself, where the pistons are. its on the left side near the bottom side

There are only three fluids associated with the engine:
-- Coolant. Normally green , but there are formulations that are red. They will taste either sweet (pre 2005 or so), or very bitter. I do not recommend tasting it!!!! The only sources of it on the right side will be from the thermostat housing at the rear of the cylinder head by the throttle bodies, the hose over the top of the cam cover, and the radiator.
-- Motor oil. From the head gasket joint between the cylinder head and the block in the cam chain case, the timing case and threaded plug in it, the clutch cover, the cam chain tensioner below the thermostat, and the rubber cam cover gasket are the only normal places where oil can come from, but it will look a light tan color and will have very little taste. I suppose there could be red motor oil, but have not encountered it.
-- Gasoline. It will be pretty obvious from the smell.

There you have it. A picture would be a big help. Oh, and whatever it is don't do a taste test.

Rob

Fork fluid being blown back and dripping off the engine? If so, you should see it on the fork tube, too.

Sounds like tranny fluid.............for an automobile.

Sure something else wasn't there first, dripping it's life juices before you stuck your bike over it?

how long have you had the bike? If you havent done an oil change yet, do one. Who knows, maybe bigda is on to something. Maybe the PO put some transmission oil in it. Or some sort of funky red oil additive. Either way, if the oil comming out looks the same, (tastes the same, although I would not recommend you tasting it, but maybe your gonna anyway), feels the same, now you know whats leaking. Using robs picture can you tell use where its leaking from?

I think it is dog piss

What colour is your coolant? Check the expansion tank under the seat to see.
