My $135 900RR exhaust conversion!!

Wow! Finally finished... Started a few weeks ago. I was on ebay (bad choice) and ran across a 900rr header made him an offer of $35 and it was on its way.

Got the headers real quick and cleaned them up

Before:

After:

Now I of course had to get a pipe. I really really like MarylandMike's pipe but wanted something a little different. I found a Scorpion Street Extreme Carbon Fiber on ebay and set my max bid at $70, and won it for $70.

Mounting the 900rr headers was cake but taking the old ones off was ridiculously hard... you have to really jack the motor up high to be able to slip the mid-pipe out and the fan and radiator really need to come off to get to the header flanges.

My pipe just arrived this afternoon and I was kinda disappointed... It is in a little bit rougher shape than I expected and it didn't even come close to fitting... (it is made for a gsxr1k) the inlet was way to small to slip onto the RR headers pipe. I called a local muffler shop and asked if they could take a look at it. Ran it over there and we brainstormed how to get it on. We ended up cutting the header again and then stretched the slip-on... I was pulling my hair out so scared it was going to crack but this guy was a pro and stretched it perfectly. Slipped it on and he welded it on. As you can see it is a tiny bit crooked but it had to be in order to clear the passenger pegs. $30

So now here it is!!! My new 900rr/gsx-r1000/custom exhaust.

Now, send that pipe off for a ceramic coating and you will be styling....

Even without that, it is cool!!!

You can see its not perfectly straight. But if it was it would have been right up against the peg.

I would LOVE to find a 919 wrecked somewhere and turn it into a dragbike and park my RR (I'd have to keep the motor from it).

I give you kudos. Looks good. Definitely black it out.

Since you have a GXR can, you did the video completely wrong. You need to hold it WOT and have it bounce off the rev limiter for 30-seconds to give us the true effect.

I painted mine and the paint is wearing off. I even used the high temp bbq paint, when I take it off again I'm either heat wrapping it or doing it right and getting it jet coated. The paint IMO just doesn't hold up.

Did you try Ripper's 900RR Map? It works great on my set-up, but I am running 900RR with no can.

I rode around yesterday with rippers map in it and it felt pretty flat. I swapped it out with map i got from somewhere made for a 919 with a full 2bros system (declan dunno if you have this one but you should try it). Seemed to run much better, but if anyone else who has done a full system has a map I would love to try it.

Email is lambdilr@jmu.edu

Did 70 miles today coming home from school, dad was riding behind me and he said after about 10 minutes it started blowing alot of smoke and he couldnt take it and he dropped way back because it stank so bad... But then it cleared up so I think I have burnt everything out of the headers finally, we switched at about 50 miles and I let him ride it so I could here the pipes. He rides so slow, prolly never brought it past 6k but I didnt smell anything or see any smoke :-D Will probably have Dan ride the piss out of it though while i follow on his f4i sometime this week just to see and smell. I LOVE the sound though! Quieter than the de-baffled pipes but so meaty and throaty. (just like the fat chick)

I for one am assuming you already have all the listed maps on this site and 919.org ? If so and your not satisfied, a pro tune is your only other option, other than tuning it yourself that is.

This set-up might have changed the curve so that the torque is a little lower and the horsepower "hit" a little higher. So, he might need to slip the clutch a bit more and in the end need a new clutch.

With this in mind, and knowing his love for the chubby girl, I think that we should start a collection for new clutch parts. Anyone with me on this one?
