getting used to a bike/ blown head gasket

ive had my bike for around a month now, and i feel that im starting to become accustomed to the speed of the bike. i told this to my work buddy and he goes "maybe your head gasket is blown and your not used to it" and so i asked what signs would be. he said a loss in power. its not so much a loss of power i feel, more like im getting used to how the throttle reacts and when to let off and on and all that sort. i tested her on my way home tonight, and it hit

1 gear 55
2 gear 110
3 140ish

then i stopped, this doesnt sound like anything mechanical wrong. but i have paranoia pretty bad and i want someone to settle my woes or let me know if something is up.

you think its blown because of your buddys big mouth !, relax and enjoy your bike.
if you are paranoid, go get a compression test.( or take your meds)
Maybe its the 3rd plug welded into the barrel, or the cam chain loose or the squirrel in the air box or maybe your buddy has not got a clue. Then again it coyuld be the afterburner leaking electric smoke into the doowhacky :-).
dave
happy to be no help cause i am narcky after laying tiles on my weekend

+1 dave. His advice is spot on. Except it could be a small recalcitrant koala in the air box instead of the squirrel. What kinda bike? 55 mph is quick in 1st gear!!

What's changed is you, not the bike. There's nothing wrong with the bike.

When you first start riding a quicker bike you really haven't conditioned your body to counteract the strong pull. It's like it's pulling your arms hard to hold on and keep your body upright against the acceleration forces and the wind forces. After a bit of experience you learn how to counteract this force with a lot less energy, without needing to think about it. When this happens that "holy-crap, gotta hold on" sensation is really diminished and the bike may feel slower.

I have thought about it and for me it's just a (no way to say this in a manly fashion) forward tilt of my pelvis, arch of my lower back and a light tightening of my core muscles. With that change, all the energy is transferred through my core to the seat and there is very little pull in the arms to hold on. The bike then feels like it pulls less hard.

Your bike is a liar. Your friend didn't say those things because you don't have a friend and your favorite sport is trolling for fish.

I understand what Mullen is saying because when I get off the ZX14 and onto the 919 I feel like 919 has a couple cylinders missing.......

Giggles eh ?
But 14000 is not possible.
Maybe he has one of those un-American metric speedos like we have up here in the Great White North.
And by the way, it is now White where I am.

see that was helpful, mine is stock. so that helps ease my woes.

i have something called a speed healer. from the original owner, does anyone know what that does? it said on google that it is something that helps make your speedometer "done did act right"

If you have a 919
If you have a SpeadoHealer
If you are showing 140 mph in 3rd gear
Then the SpeedoHealer has not be programmed, or programmed improperly, and is causing bogus readings.
The SpeedHealer is intended to allow for speedo corrections to account for inherent speedo error plus any gearing changes the previous owner might have made. Gearing changes meaning changing the number of teeth on the front and/or rear sprockets.

Your speedo healer is broken or you were looking at the wrong numbers. Take it out again and give it another go.

The stock 919 is aerodynamically limited to around 145 in sixth gear. I haven't exactly tried but unless we (or you) missed something it's just about impossible to do 130 to 140 in third. If you were close you would have been riding the rev limiter.

putting the head gasket aside.because if you had that problem you would know for sure............but there are times during the season that my bike will feel like a rocket and im loving it....then there are a few times that it feels like and under powered slug and im not into it at all...usually last a few days then im back in love with the machine again.....i always had bikes that would pull real hard and put a little fear and fun into your soul.....still miss that feeling....may never feel it again...but i remember how great a feeling it was
