At 60 mph indicated on 919, the GPS shows 55.
Anyone tried to correct it with a SpeedoHealer or other such device? I'd love to hear details. I'm not losing sleep but would like better accuracy (and a correct odometer reading).

Nope. Don't really worry about it. I calculated it as a 4.5% error IIRC.

Speedo-Healer is tits. Go for it. It's reasonably priced and works like a champ.
I'll never own another bike without one.

just read up on the 17 tooth front sprocket width issues.
Apparently you need shims to get the 17toother to fit right?
Anyone want to chime in w/ a part #, my motorcycle shop is having a hard time finding a 17toother that they know will work.
Thanks.

These guys show the AFAM 17tooth as an option, but I thought I read about that one comming narrower than the OEM 16 Tooth? They also show "Superlite" having a 17 tooth option.

? running a 17 tooth with no shim, does just fine. never heard of needing to use a shim for a 17 tooth sprocket.

but does your 17tooth sprocket have any side play in it? What sprocket did you purchase?

Ditto here--running a 17 from Sprocket Center for a little over a year now (AFAM, as I recall). Yes, it does have a bit of side-to-side play (maybe 1mm or so) and, no, it doesn't make any difference. As Pvster said--does just fine (just be sure to torque the bolt to OEM specs).

not that it's the same, but I made an electric skateboard that had minimal sprocket play (side to side) and it would cause the chain to fall off. Tightened it up w/ spacers and it never happened again.
All things considered i went w/ a 16 up front, 42 in the back.
should be everything I am looking for.
Thanks for all the helpful posts everyone. i hope to be out in the berkeley hills some time this weekend w/ the new chain and sprockets.

the 919 has a metal guide on the sprocket cover so there is no worry of the chain falling off... dude trust us, many of us has been down this road before.
not sure why you'd step down a tooth in the rear from stock. shoulda stayed stock or gone with the 17/44.

16/43 = 2.688 ratio
16/42 = 2.625
17/44 = 2.588
I don't see any reason why dropping a tooth off the back would be a bad idea? it put me right between stock and 17/44

Not necessarily a bad idea, just not that much different than stock. I highly doubt if you will notice the .063 from stock.
