I don't care what the ambient temp is outside. And yes, I only ride when the temp is above a certain minimum: 32 degrees. For obvious reasons. What I want to know is the wind chill factor at highway speeds. No big deal, just wonder sometimes. Besides, I has some money to spend on paypal and was looking for cool things for the bike, and this is one of them. Don't need a clock.
And as for LDH's comment about a watch or cell phone to check time: how does that work for ya at 70 mph? Wouldn't a simple glance toward the gauges be more convenient? You get my point. Not sure why you're so against other WT members who purchase or install thermometers or clocks, but you wouldn't appreciate if anyone gave YOU crap about something on YOUR bike, so it isn't fair to suggest are thermometer or clock is a worthless addition to a lazy rider's bike. We buy them for a reason: WE don't like to try and roll up our sleeves at 60mph to look at our watch OR unzip our jacket pockets on the freeway to see what time it is.
ohfour, relax.... its LDH, he has a sick sense of humor. and remember, he's a poser. he just rides on the track not the street(kidding ldh!).
as to your questions, ohfour, you only need to worry about freezing at or below 32 degrees when there's moisture on the ground. being in the seattle area though, that pretty much means most of the time lol.
as for windchill, as a rule of thumb you take your outside temp and minus 20 degrees. that'll be your average riding temp. a simple temp gauge wont tell you what the windchill is.

Dude I have a dayglo swingarm, stator cover and barend weights... Feel free to give me all the crap you want as I don't think I could possibly set myself up for it any better than that... My RC51 was laden in gold parts and carbon fiber and my gold colored 1000RR isn't exactly a color picked for a rider that wants to remain anonymous. I expect my bikes to stand out, I run a sportbike industry business based on being seen and heard so getting attention is always a good thing for me.
What would be really great though is for you to just man up and admit you bought some gimmicky shit for your bike becuase you think it looks cool instead of trying to justify it as being the most important item of function on our bike I'll even send you a free paint pen so you can paint the letters on your tires!
I'll get a pic of my setup up later. I got the thermometer installed over the center triple nut. Although, the mounting bracket that came with it was too large on the OD, so the guy that powdercoated some bits for me actually milled it down to fit. Otherwise, I was planning on sending it back. It needs about 2mil machined off the outside edge (it was about 4-5mil thick).
It has an indiglo type light up to it. As I was hitting the freeway the other night I thought 'Man, this is the PERFECT temperature to ride in". Once glance down and I could see it was 67 degrees. Beautiful.
Anyway, I ordered a clock today and mentioned you Woody. Ross wanted me to give you his thanks!
Awesome, glad Ross could hook you guys up! I love having both if them on my bike, I use them quite often so who cares what LDH or anyone else thinks, your the one with your hands in the bars enjoying them!
I have never had a better customer service experience in my life that I can recall, these guys know how to treat a customer! Bravo....

It's your bike, if you want to add wind chimes, go for it if it makes you happy, it does not affect anyone else, and this is still a somewhat free country to do as you please with your money and motorcycle..
