3M DiNoc Carbon Vinyl

I wrapped my sidecovers today in this stuff and it looks pretty good! It's not the greatest job, as I've never wrapped anything in my life, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying carbon pieces (I got a 12"x48" piece for $27 shipped). I will say one thing, if you try this yourself, a heat gun should be your best friend.

Looks good! How much left-over did you have from that 12x48 roll?

I had about a 12" x 8" piece left. Good enough to cover the back of my friends iPhone! You have to cut it larger than the piece, obviously, but large enough that you can pull and stretch it, so there was some waste pieces.

Thanks! It's got some creases on the hard corners, but most of them are hidden by the seat or tank, so it's all good. Like I said, not perfect, but much cheaper than actual carbon!! I'll try and get a picture of them on the bike tomorrow.

Hey, that turned out great! How much did a roll of that stuff cost you? If you have a link to wherever you bought it, I'll check it out!

Here's the link to what I bought...

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I didn't use the primer though, because, from what I understand, the Primer makes it a bit harder to remove the vinyl if you need to, and I wasn't sure how it would look (or how bad I would be at it).

Cool. Just thinking of a swoosh/stripe here and there rather than an actual full wrap.

nice job, i have been considering this as well. good to hear that someone with zero experience had some luck. so can heat gun equal my wifes pink hair dryer? I might just wrap the entire BIKE! well, at least the tanks an plastics, may not be rideable if I wrap the ENTIRE bike. anxious for more pics!

I used an actual heat gun, but I have heard of people using a dryer as well, so I'm sure it would work.

I think it will look real good in the sunlight. Everyone of my friends/family I have shown says it looks fantastic. When I had it on the bike, my one buddy said it looked like 'factory carbon'. For 26 bucks it's definitely worth a shot!

Only problem is I keep looking at random things and wondering what they would look like wrapped in carbon...

Did mine a couple weeks ago. Took a pic of both the CF on my Scorpion can as well as the side covers, very close match.

What I like about this stuff is it's actually a 3D print, so light is reflected differently when looking at it (exactly like CF does). VERY good imitation product.

Not only does it look fairly authentic, stuff has a textured surface, so it feels pretty cool too. I got some to use on my fenders....
