First, 1978 Isle of Man TT. Yeah, the one where Mike Hailwood made his comeback.
Second, 1988 USGP at Laguna Seca. Eddie Lawson won with his much more tractible Yamaha vs. Wayne Gardner's and Niall Mackenzie's foam flecked NSR Hondas with his now famous double apexing of turn two, one time seeming to defy the laws of physics as he and Mackenzie shared the same space at the same time: the ultimate skinny pass. Should have heard the crowd, over 100,000 strong, go nuts!
Third, 1989 USGP at Laguna Seca. Wayne Rainey won, but that was completely overshadowed by Gardner's leg breaking crash, Bubba Shobert's career ending brain injury caused by a cooldown lap collision with McGee, a gate way down from '88, and a general pall over the whole race due to limited practice time from shipping delays from Philip Island just one week before the USGP. I rode with Shobert on Angeles Crest Highway some two years later and while he was still a bit of a wild man, it was obvious he had dialed it back several notches.
The shirt is too worn out to wear, but I can't bring myself to throw it away.
But ... but ... that's not how properly set up motorcycles shift!
Rob
Those are some bitchin shirts Rob!
Someday I'll actually take some time off and go to the TT. It's something that I've wanted to do for a very long time now.
Eddie's performance in 88 was masterful. The double apex thing in turn two was unbelievable! I still watch it on video tape to this very day!!
I've met Bubba a couple of times, both before and after the accident. He is truly one of the nicest guys ever. Breaks my heart that we never got to see his best on pavement.
Location: Santa Maria, CA Otherwise known as heaven on earth.

Yes, I've heard modern transmissions are different. How did the old ones work, Rob? Were there two sticks ? (Mack joke)
You mean bikes don't still use a foot clutch and "Three on the tank"? When did that happen?

What do the three legs represent on the isle shirt ?
Resilience. Think of it as a two dimensional version of a caltrop.
The motto "Quocunque jeceris stabit" is latin for "Whichever way I'm thrown, I stand." Appropriate considering the Isle of Man has the oldest continuous parlimentary government, over 1,000 years in 1979, despite being occupied by several different countries including my ancestors: Vikings. A very cool place to be for two weeks in the early summer.

Any idea where you got that from? Is there a copyright statement on it anywhere? That's a cool shirt!

Website is xtremex.com but when you go there it says the domain is for sale so I'm thinking they're either out of business or changed names or something.
