So what do we think? Is this Ducati's DN-01 or is it drool/spank material?

Change the bars and headlight, and you'll have a nice hot-rod cruiser. But what's with the wheels? They went with a 2-piece or 3-piece? If you get a dent on your wheel... the least of your worries will be replacing the wheel (and in this case only one of the 2 or 3 pieces).
Is it a real Ducati? - looks like it has had the Roland Sands treatment.
From the single image I have to say for a cruiser I like it. Hopefully it is powered by a high spec Ducati engine and brings on the power cruiser wars.
looks preferable to a V-Rod or a V-max.
Things that make me doubt it is factory - I cannot see any turn signals or anywhere to mount mirrors and where is the license plate mount?
Very very Sands and he has played with Ducatis before. Wheels look like his too.

The signals are incorporated into the bodywork. I think Roland Sands had a hand in the design.
Not a fan of the styling. It looks like Chip Foose for bikes. It gives me a meh feeling.

interesting.... least its got the good 4 valve liquid cooled motor in it.... over a craptastic air cooled 2 valver ducati seems to throw in anything less than $18k
I wonder why all the makers of naked bikes still insist on the standard format rabbit ear mirrors - surely it would be as cost effective to make a set of CRG rip-off 'factory' bar-end mirrors to retain the clean look. Maybe it is some certification thing.
I really like the whole open front look devoid of sticky out mirrors when riding.
Mind you then mine would not look so special. Often a talking point when parked up.
0-60 in 2.6 seconds I believe just read in at least 1 of the 3 rags I get.
Sounds like it has a nice power to weight ratio. I'm waiting for the shootout between the Diavel and the Vmax. Power to weight being the real deal here.
16Gs + for the standard version, 18+ for the upgraded one.
And my Bonnie keeps rolling along......

Rolling or bouncing. I'd salute that britsh flag in your avitar anyday.
I like the diavel. Shuold get Ducait into that cruiser market without making a "run of the mill useless for anythingg but cruising" cruiser.
With an advertized 41 degree lean angle it should get around corners better than most riders are capable of anyway. It doesn't look comfy at all. But for short look at me rides I bet its fun. Especially with that power to weight ratio and chssis made for tire hazing launches.
I understand why they did it from a business perspective, but I still don't have to like it. Being part of the Ducati community over the past 5 years with my assorted ownerships and frame up builds, I can honestly say I don't like the way the "ownership/lifestyle" is heading. It's to the point where it seems to be more about the "fashion shows" and "espresso machines" and now this.....then about the racing heritage and tuning/wrenching aspect of motorcycling that I fell in love with it in the first place for. Go ahead and slap a Harley logo on the tank

This is what happens when companies start producing and selling a brand and stop producing and selling the product that made them.
I saw one today at the Motorcycle show in Cleveland. I was super excited to walk over to the display, and I was super let down. IMO the bike looks horrible, if I had saw one on the street and someone told me it was a Ducati I would not have believed them at all. The display wasn't setup for the bikes to be sat on or touched, but it looked kinda plastic and cheap. The pictures do make it look pretty good.
On another note, I sat on a CB1000 . . . that was kinda cool other than the fact that it had been at like 9 motorcycle shows and some of the clips on the plastic guards and such were broken from people pulling on them. I think that is going to be a top notch bike when they finally start getting up to my neck of the woods . . . my dealer said he should have one around early May.
Ducati makes no bones about the fact that they are trying to duplicate hd's marketing. The CEO says all the time in interviews that they are shooting for selling a lifestyle. Which is okay I guess, if you selling a "lifestyle" of performance/racing.
That said. I did check out the Deavil today as well at the show. I thought it look good. Its certainly different in appearance from a cruiser. I didn't care for it the second I sat on it though. The seat is very deeply cut out. Leaving the rider with a one position seating position. And this possition puts alot of pressure on the family jewels against the tank. Nothing one can do about it other than hope for better seat aftermarket. It also had a typical ducati long reach to the bars. Which I'm not a fan of. And I have long arms. Cool bike, but no comfortable, and not practical. Wich I guess makes it the perfect cruiser.
Having gone to the IMS in Minneapolis this weekend, I would have to agree with Touring. I had trouble reaching the bars. They are waaaay out there. The cockpit is very minimalist, which I don't mind. The seat is... well... you're way in there. Not really able to move. The fuel tank is wide, long and flat. You have like 40 acres of space on that thing. I swear you could strap on a 3000ci tankbag and have room to spare. It's definitely like nothing else on the road. I'd like to take it out for a spin, but wouldn't buy one.

it is a mixture of many bike types. I've sat on it last week at the Istanbul Bike Expo, not very comfy, very heavy and it is said to burn gas like as if it is heating hell.
