Bandit safety recall

Here in Canada, I received a recall notice for my 09 Bandit 1250. I have the touring model (same as any other Bandit, but comes with hard luggage)
It seems the bike is a hazard to the rider and other road users as the side reflectors on the rear end of the bike are obscured by the side cases. I am all about safety, so I took my bike to the dealer to have the situation corrected.
After an hour at the dealer, here is Suzuki's fix. They also relocated the existing reflectors from the licence plate bracket to a location just below the rear part of the seat to be visible when the cases are off. (in my case, never)
After I got home, I ripped the newly installed reflectors off and tossed them.
I am wondering if there was a similar recall elsewhere in the world or if this is just a Transport Canada recall.

Sounds a bit anal to me.

Mind you I am surprised that motorcycled don't actually have to have some from of side running lights for night use.

Reflectors? Aren't those the first thing to go on all bicycles and motorcycles?

The bike comes with reflectors on the side of the license plate bracket. Someone at Transport Canada figured out that they are hidden when the side cases are on. Suzuki rectified this by issuing a recall and sticking additional reflectors on the bags themselves. I don't really know why they had to move the original reflectors to a different location. They are still hidden when the bags are on.
I decided the add on reflectors were ugly and tore them off when I got home.
In other words, I wasted the time spent at the dealer when I could have been riding.I guess I thought the reflector solution would be better.
Canada is a great place, but sometimes our government comes up with stupid ideas.

The same can be said for the USA.

We have heard about that here and think it's BS. I'm a firefighter and I plan to visit the WTC site in 2011.
I really don't want to look at a Mosque when I'm there.

Its disrespectful to put it mildly, Ive never been a racist and pride my self on accepting others cultures but Im having a hard time with muslims right now and I dont like myself for it. Wierd time in america right now trying to be PC I get it. but that shouldn't involve getting slapped in face buy non americans or americans period.

Hats off to you for being a fireman I pursued that career for a while, I'd love it but they simply aren't hiring around here. My nieghbor is a fireman and said they haven't hired in years and have been laying off quarterly for the past 2 years. Maybe later in life I can fulfill that dream.

I think we got a little off topic there.

I'm going to take my chances without the reflectors stuck to the side of my bike.
Funny thing is, the red panels on the rear af the side cases look like reflectors, but aren't.

And it seems that would have been the perfect place to put them. Weird.

Not a rant, just stating your opinion.
Maybe we need to start a new thread to discuss further.

Too bad.
You must have offended someone.
I guess I better keep my thoughts to myself too.

Yeah its pretty cool around here most of the time but watch your tone.

Ive always dug the bandits I need a bigger garage and a better job. Id like to add a TLr a Bandit a vmax and a street triple to the collection. You've got a Sharp bike there, I also want a Goldwing for those loooonnnngggggg trips. I rode the 9er from dallas to tampa and it just wasn't the perfect machine for it but it is the best all arounder for me at the moment.

Take care man, enjoy!

I had an 06 919 before the Bandit.
It was a great bike.
I found myself going on longer rides and wanted something more comfortable.I also wanted the ability to carry some stuff.
I still wanted some fun factor.
The Bandit suits my purposes quite well.
I still miss the 919 sometimes. I wish I could afford to have both bikes.
