29 degrees out and she wants to ride....

29 degrees out and my daughter wants to ride her scooter to school this morning.

7 miles one way, and in the morning, she likes me to ride with her, possibly so she has someone to carry her viola.

Supposed to get to 65 this afternoon, this afternoon would be nice for a scooter ride, 65 vs 29, a no-brainer it seems to me.

I try and reason with her, it's 29 degrees out, what should a Dad do?

Well, this Dad bundled up and we rode to school this morning.

Funny, we came to an intersection and I looked down - and there was a bag of pot.

I laughed, and pointed it out, my daughter said "DON'T TOUCH IT!!"

Well, I picked it up anyway, looked like some kids stash of commercial. Worn out baggie, you know the kind, almost white from being rolled up so much.

I laughed and tossed it, we rode off.

Tires must be low on air, could not go much over 35.

And it was cold enough the left blinker did not want to work.

Time to winterize.

Change oil, fill with fresh fuel and add Yamaha stabilizer/cleaner.
Run to get the fuel through the fuel system and drain the carb.

Remove batteries and set up in the charging station, they'll be maintained throughout the winter.

We do take them out year round when weather allows, installing the batteries and then repeating the storage process.

I've got a feeling this might be one of those winters that they do not get out much, we'll see.

A family that rides together - well, you know.....

Thanks for reading.

Any chance you would come over here and take pictures for me, because I suck at it.....

Is it a dry cold? And, yes, I mean that seriously. When I was in college, I would ride in the 20's in Eastern Washington and it wasn't as "cold" as the low 30's are in Western Washington.

Thanks gents, and it was a cold cold.

When I lived in Flagstaff, cold was not cold, thanks to the lower humidy and altitude, I think.

Here, cold is cold.

My nose turned red.

But, I had on my steel toe insulated Red Wings (made in China....) and layered up pretty well - other than forgeting my proper riding cap, all was good.

My daughter mentioned she only had a half tank, told her not to worry -

On the way back, I noticed the scooter I was riding was on "E".......

No worries, filled up for $2.70 and rode on!

Nice move.

I rode to work today... 30ish degrees. Supposed to be mid 60s by the evening commute. Only my fingers got cold, but that's the beauty of riding a naked bike - you can warm up your hands while sitting at the stoplights.

Good job riding with the kid in the frigid temps.
Which do you like better, the Vespas or the Ruckus (is that a Ruckus?) ?

When I got my 1st streetbike running I just HAD to take it out despite it being 17 degree. Didn't take long to get numb but it sure was fun.
