Got my new to me slightly blemished tank today! Removed and stripped the OG really dented one and readied for paint. Mended the cracks in the tail piece for bondo-ing. Pics soon. On a side note, when pulling the tank, I just pulled the fuel pump out and left it attached sitting on the frame. Will it be ok there for some time or does it need to be covered/removed/anything?

We threw Osiris' in a double plastic bag and then a bucket. I would at least cover it to keep it clean...

Got the OEM windscreen today, and installed it when I got home. 30 degree F test ride tomorrow morning on the way to work! Living in the mountains and driving 38 miles out to the desert to work gives me a big swing in temperature - sometimes up to 70 degrees from early morning to mid-afternoon.

You show me how to enable subs in a video and make it available on youtube and I'll do it.

Basically, I had sideways throttle play in my grip. It bugged me, so I made a plastic shim that went on the outside near the bar end; enough to keep it snug but not bind the throttle.

5/8ths socket used to cut internal diameter, and 24mm to cut the outer. Used a plastic cap off of the round cardboard tube (that my carbon fiber vinyl came in).

Speaking of:

Something I should have done when I put my 900rr header on. Probably didn't need it at the midpipe. The fit was already so dang tight from the ceramic coating, but at the midpipe to can junction it definitely needed it.

My GSXR master cylinder didn't have a mirror mount like the stock one does, so I had to buy one on Amazon (~$10).

had to shift some things around a bit, bend my reservoir mount forward a bit (took advantage to also paint it black) and re-adjust my lever, but I finally got my left mirror back on

They are not as pink in person as they are in the photo.

If they start to fade in the sun, I'll replace them with black.

where did you put the straps on the bike from the ladder? I'll be installing mine next week. just the 2 square bars underneath the seat? Did you have to lift the front up on a stand before you raised the rear with your ladder technique?

Stated reassembly on the back half of the bike. Also spent an hour or so organizing the shop, only to blow it apart in 5min.

Just put together a better ram ball mount. Handlebar mirror bracket + 1" RAM ball with 10mm thread. It just looks better than the U bolt and rubber bolt ends.

Carbon fiber fork oil? I hear it's lighter.

What kind of oil do you use in your engine...?

Maybe I should use the oil we use at work for the cryogenic pumps - Krytox GPL-103 (perfluorinated oil). Only $2800.00 per gallon.

Nah.

Way too expensive. I found it here for MUCH cheaper:

20 kg / 5 Gallon Pail KRYTOX[REG] GPL 103 Clear General Purpose Line Oil | Fastenal

Only $2412 / gallon.

Started to install my ohlins. Had to stop to celebrate my mother's birthday.

Anyone ever install the remote preload adjuster somewhere other than the footpeg location?

Yeah, I've seen a few pics of it installed under the seat, to the side of the seat pan underneath. Etc.

Just do what works best that still leaves it accessible.

Well after going out to eat, I thought of this idea. It's too late in the night to do, so I shall do it tomorrow. I was thinking of only mounting the adjuster with 1 screw on the supplied bracket, and mounting the setup vertically attached to that little black electric thing. I took some pictures to give you a rough idea. I will need to grind a little out of the plastic tray where the old reservoir cable used to be. Should still be easily accessable yet hidden.

Be careful, that's your lean angle sensor, don't break it...

Wrapped a bunch of parts in 3M di-noc carbon vinyl today. Very happy with the end results. Application was a little tricky and is a two person job, you really have to heat and tug on it to get it smooth.

Wow, good job HeliMech. Di-NOC is great stuff.

As for me, I set the rear sag on the bike today with, my daughter wielding the tape measure. She's quite the little mechanic already.

I also spent WAY too many hours generating the CNC programs for my forthcoming rearsets. But at least the programs are written now.

Thanks! A co-worker picked up a huge 200m roll for his tint/wrap business, I picked up 40 sq/ft yesterday to play around with. Me and a friend spent 8hrs in the garage wrapping anything that wasn't bolted down.

Like yourself I am hoping to get into doing some true CF layups this summer. It's been a long time since I laid any mats, going to tool up this summer and see if I still got it.

Will do JT, you will be the first I call.

So I just finished wrapping my Buell M2 windscreen. Next up will be a set of OEM exhaust heatshields & a smoothed tail cowl. These will both be going up FS: once they are completed.

I was gonna order some of that stuff to go over my yoshi cans to cover the small dents and blemishes. Do you think it will hold up to the heat?
