New Business Name

I need help coming up with a name for my new business. I am learning the dark art of fuel injection tuning and will soon be offering my services to the Indianapolis area. Interestingly enough, there is no one offering this service to the exotic brands and only 2 offering it for the jap motorcycles. The ones in town that do offer dyno services are known for only getting peak numbers at 80-100% throttle leaving the low and midrange untouched. When I start, I will be renting a local dyno and offering full service out of my garage. Once I get busy enough, I hope to expand into an actual store front or build a large garage on my property.

So far, the names I have come up with are Max Performance, Shaughnessy Motorsports, Tuned Performance, and Torqued Motosports.

Shaughnessy Motorsports is thus far my favorite as it ties in my name but also doesn't tie me to one service. Any suggestions?

You're a good man.

How about Shaughn-a-Tune

or

Tunessy Enterprises

or

Schaughnessy Motorsports - The only think about the Schaughnessy Motorsports is that it seems everyone uses "Motorsports" and has for the past decade.

Nothing wrong with that I guess.

It is a good idea to not pigeonhole yourself into one market with your name - unless that is your primary focus.

The local Honda dealership here is called "St. Joe Honda" and it is owned by "Eidemann Motorsports" so you have a lot of flexibility.

Multiple corporations seem to be the ticket, I guess......

How about "Thrust Engineering"?

How about this:
Shaughnessy Custom Fuel Injection Mapping and Dyno Services, or
SCFIMADS. Brings to mind a scientist with a bit of a mad streak.

No?

Try this one:
Go Like Stink With Shaughnessy.

Will you will be selling PCIII's with installation as well?

Good luck.

Rob

Personally, I vote no on the motorsports. Sounds too much like you're selling vehicles to me. I would pick a name that is descriptive of what you'll be doing. You can always adopt a "bigger umbrella" name after you expand to other services/sales. Max Performance is good. HP Performance? Torque Shop? Horsepower Garage? Two-wheel Tuners? Hmmmm

Don't use your personal name in the business name. As a startup firm, that makes you look small.

IMO, that only works if you already have an established client base and product and they are there for you and your reputation.

IMO!

Definately not that one. It conjures up images of The Blue Oyster.
