My buddy gave me his motorcycle today.

My buddy had a honda shadow 650 sitting in his back yard for the past 5 years. It apparently belong to another friend of ours, so i called steve (the owner) and he said if i want it i can have it. Awesome. Only shitty thing is there is not title. So i gotta get that figured out. Going over tomorrow to snap some pic and the get the yeah and vin number to start there.

Any ideas how to get a title for this thing? I'm in maryland.

Salvage title? Bonded title at worst, but that's what I know goes down here in TX.

If your buddy was the last registered owner, you may be able to take him to the DMV with you and get a new title issued.

Dude, it's a free bike. How about you go fuck yourself? i pull up on the 919 and people just look at me because they cant quite figure out what the hell it is anyway. Is it a touring bike? Is it a sport bike?

I could care less. If i can get it to run then woo i got a free bike. If i dont like it i can sell it. Is that a good enough answer for you? Or will it make you feel better to keep talking shit like you do in just about every thread i post?

ya seroius. the shadow 650 is a nice lil cruiser... who cares what people think... i show up on my 919 people go wtf... people tell me its a pos and i need a better bike... then i go and pull so far away from them they just tuck their tails between their legs and go home.

A free bike is that FREE... put a lil time and effort to get her back up and running and you will now have a very in expensive bike that will last for ever that you can take out when you want something a lil different.

as far as i know i thought the shadows were vtwins?

The Honda Shadow refers to a family of cruiser-type motorcycles made by Honda since 1983. The Shadow line features motorcycles with a liquid-cooled 52-degree V-twin ranging from 125cc to 1800cc engine displacement. The 250cc Honda Rebel is associated with the Shadow line in certain markets

ok if its a 96 its either a 600 vlx or a 750 shadow ace. I'm hoping its the 600 because if it is, you'll have a great base to go in any direction and I can guide you onto another forum that is a vlx haven and a wealth of info!

is it chain or shaft? Shaft means 750 and chain means 600. Let me know what you find!

i've never really messed with a v-twin motor before, but i imagine it cant be that complex. I found a shadow forum or 5 and found a link for the shop book and it seems pretty simple to work on.

hmm, it should be on the neck tube, stamped into the metal, not riveted on via a plate.

I had on 03 750 ACE, and mine was chain driven? unless they switched from shaft early years to chain later years (I really wouldn't see why tho)

VLX is Silver and the

ACE is Black (not exact 96 yr models for both, but you get the main concept)

hey undercover, i cant remember which model it is but i know it's one of the shadow 750 lines that ran with a shaft for a time. had several forum members compare the 99+ vlx to the shaft driven 750 and the vlx spanked the 750 which was pathetic to say in the least lol.

a 96 vlx aka VT600C Standard was only available in Black. The Deluxe was available in one of three colors: Red with Black insets, Black with Pearl Mint insets, or the carry-over 95 Pearl Purple with Pearl White insets.

Yeah I was just giving my personal knowledge (little) that mine was chain driven. I never had problem keeping up or getting smoked by my friend even being a good 35-40lbs heavier than my friend who owned a VLX like pictured. Maybe I can dig up some info on it.

Googled the question quick and got this answer on hondashadow.net

In 1998, the 750ACE and Spirit 750 were born and they came with a chain drive.
