I dunno, I rode it a time or two before I got my 750. It seemed OK, but I def was not bouncing it off the limiter. There was 2 things I liked about the VLX over my ACE. I like how light and maneuverable it felt , and how low the seat height was as well. Maybe the weight factor is the biggest thing when comparing the two? I'm sure when comparing power to weight they may be in the same category?

i dont know what year the 750 got dumbed down to 1 carb like the 99+ vlx did and coupled with the shaft drive even the tame 99+vlx pulled away from the 750.

This was the first website I found that had hp and torque values that I "assume" are right. I know the weight is dry weight on these but lets just see.

VLX
39 HP @ 6500, 36.1 ft. lbs @ 3500 DRY WEIGHT of 440.9lbs
HP/Weight .0885 Tq/Weight .0819
ACE
43 HP @ 5500, 44.6 ft. lbs @ 3000 DRY WEIGHT of 504.6lbs
Hp/Weight .0853 Tq/Weight .0884

here is the link for the VLX
Honda VT 600 CD Shadow 2003: technical specifications
and here is the link for the ACE
Honda VT 750 C2 Shadow 2003: technical specifications

I'm assuming weight of rider, any mods, and rider technique attribute to which one of these two is faster (Note both were 2003 chain driven models)
For me though ACE wins the style points hands down, but I think I may have a fetish for the ACE

I do not know what years they had single vs dual carb. Hell I didn't do the jetting on mine so I don't have the slightest lol.

i have been moving the past couple days and have not had a chance to get over there and look at it. I know that it is Black and green. And has more of the triangle shaped air filter cover.

SIde idea, I have a friend that does a lot of custom fab work, and i have another bike that is not running (83 cb650sc). He suggested that i just get the vin stuff off that bike and put it on the Vlx. How likely is that to work? I would be able to slap historic tags on it if i went that route.
