Motorcycle tire review?

I'm going to need new tires in the next couple months. I've run Michelin 2ct Pilots with no complaints, but I was wondering if anyone has seen an actual comparison between different tires that would work for sport touring?

If sport touring, the ONLY tire is Michelin Pilot Road 2. Depending on how my Pilot Power set works (mileage wise), I'll likely go back to the Road 2 tires.

I used to get about 5k roughley out of the power rear on my old Gsx-r, I'm currently on road2's until something else better comes out. Right now they're the bees knees.

Ill disagree and say that the Dunlop Roadsmarts are amazing as well.

+1 I've had both on my VFR and those RoadSmarts are great.

How many miles have you gotten out of the roadsmarts? Any words on their capabilities in the twisties?

notta clue on the dunlops, but like said i too went with pilot road 2's front and rear.... i have NEVER had the front slip on me... and the rear only slips if im cranked way hard over and get a lil crazy with the throttle in first gear (damn 15tooth front) I have put like 3k miles on em and i expect to AT LEAST get 5 k more out of the rear, and the front will probably be somewhere round 12K

I just put 9k on a rear and caught a screw with plenty of life left in the tire. It's blockin off a little but I wouldn't have changed it for A while if not for the screw.

I took my Pilot Road 2s off and put on Pilot Powers before I hit the twisty stuff of The Dragon (US129) and surrounding roads. The front has 10,000 miles on it and the rear has 8,500. They are sitting in my garage with at least another couple thousand miles left in them.

I am in the minority but I just put on Bridgestone BT-023's two months ago and have been very happy with them so far. No long rides so no mileage/wear report but handling is very good in the turns.

So far, 2500 miles on the RoadSmarts, at least 1000 of them in twisties and absolutely no complaints. They feel as good as my Pilot Powers used to feel, except by now my rear Power would already be squaring (because of my daily commute to work). The RoadSmarts are as round as when they were put on.

IMHO, they also outdo the Powers and the Road 2s in the rain, by a fair margin.

ya it will probably be 8 to 9k on the rear road 2 for me... 90% of my riding is twisty canyon, and generally being a dick to my rear tire lol

I have never used Roadsmarts, but there are a bunch of reports over on an ST forum where folks are having problems with the tires developing blisters or bubbles. Seems like it usually pretty far into the tire life, and not sure what other factors may have led to it. Just an FYI.

I am over 8k on my roadsmarts and they are still doing great. These are the best wet tires I have ever had.

I am not the most aggressive rider but I have eliminated the chicken strips and have not had these tires slip at all.

Wow, scary stories. Hadn't come accross this complaint about the RoadSmarts before, but now I'll be riding with extra attention. I mean, so far they've been outstanding (and no one local has reported such a problem) but I'm really not looking forward to such a failure while highspeed cornering, for example.

So far, that's more the experinece I've had. No more chicken strips and great handling, dry or wet.

How the hell are you guys getting so many miles in these tires, Ive been running the Dunlops Q2's and I never get more than 5000 miles out of them. Good tire but wears way too fast.

The Q2s wear faster becauase they are not constructed the same as the Pilot Road 2 and the Road Smart, especially in teh center portion of the thread.

I know I do not get that many miles out of my rear Metzler Sportec M3. After the next rear, I'm gonna try something else. I'll be chaecking back to this thread.

Currently using Conti Sport/Road Attacks. Really happy with them so far. They are very sticky and most definitely are going to last at least in the 6-8k miles range.

Conti Sport/road attack. 4k and the rear is shot. Front seems fine.
Thought I'd get more than 4k out of them , but between 175 hp and linked abs brakes the Beemer chewed them up. ( It wasn't me....i swear....it was the bikes fault..
